Kanye West Removes Graphic Spike Jonze-Directed Video From His Blog

Posted Wed Oct 21, 2009 8:23am PDT by Andy Pemberton in Musictoob

Kanye West has been forced to pull his new video from his own website.

The rapper had posted an 11-minute film called We Were Once A Fairytale directed by Spike Jonze on his blog on Monday.

The video follows West on a night out. He is seen having sex with a stranger and projectile-vomiting blood, then stabbing himself in the stomach. At this point a demon that resembles a tiny rat emerges from his stomach and stabs itself with a miniscule sword. The rat looks a lot like the monsters from Jonze's current hit movie, Where The Wild Things Are

West took down the video yesterday but did not explain why.

"Sorry I had to take it down," is all he wrote on a statement on his blog.

The video is still widely available on YouTube and will soon be available to buy on iTunes.

West has struggled to rebuild his reputation after a controversial appearance at the MTV Music Video Awards last month. He recently cancelled a tour with Lady Gaga and did not appear at a recent awards show.

The story behind the story is at www.musictoob.com.

I have to agree and disagree with Cherie..We do know who he is...which is why he SHOULD rebuild his reputation...it's time for a kinder, gentler Kanye..life is not all about him. Maybe he's finally realizing that.

Kanye West needs to take a break and seek counseling. His insanity has gotten the best of him. I'm hoping that those around him are pointing in the direction of getting help.

Kanye just lost his mama not to long ago and no one should be judging him.

Please LEEM, this isn't about him being judged, this is about him feeling all depressed and crap because no one wants to deal with his arrogance anymore. It's about time he wakes up and smells the roses, D is right everything isn't about him. How u liking yourself now Kanye? HEH, HEH

Okay, I'm going to comment on that 11 minute video he made....it was really stupid lol and didn't make really make sense. It just seemed like Kanye was trying so hard to get on people's good sides when he's only making himself look even worse. Even though the issue with Swift happened some time ago, some people still haven't forgotten how he basically shattered a young girl's moment. Even though she made it up later in the night thanks to Beyonce, her moment without Beyonce giving it back to her was ruined for and made spectacle of on Youtube and blogging sites around the world. Kanye needs to take time away from the spotlight and gather the pieces of his mind that he left all over the MTV awards. We all should've seen this coming like seriously this is the same guy who went on TV and made Mike Myers feel uncomfortable and awkward when he said something about Bush not liking black people and whatnots. And besides, it past Kanye's nap time, anybody have his sippy cup? ^__^

Kanye is an idiot, a total loser, and anyone who likes him, IS A LOSER, JUST LIKE HIM, DEATH TO KANYE!!!!

The point of the video was to promote the director of the shorts WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, or whatever the crappy movie is called... Make a bizzare short with KanGAY, and then people will pay money to go to see the feature film as it will be mentioned in the same breath as the dumb and useless short!!!

I am not sure why anyone would think that musicians should be humanitarians or even role models.

It is all about the money - what sells, promotional gimmicks as well as competing with thousands of other musicians to stay in the lime light.

As long as the musician’s CDs are selling, it doesn’t matter whether the singer is a man or a mouse.

Or was that a rat in the video clip?

:-)

post #14 that was not a nice thing 2 say, its been known that when it comes to doing the right thing lately he doesn't exactly make the cut but saying death to him is just plain ignorant

The guy is an attention whore with severe ego issues. Even the next day after the Taylor Swift incident he admitted to being wrong, yet STILL made it all about him with his lame comments that went something like "I just have to take a step back and figure out how I am going to get through tis life". GIMMME AN EFFIN BREAK KANYE!!!! If you truly knew how to be sorry, you would NOT make it all about you with comments designed to seek pity, comments that pretty much said.....POOR POOR ME!! ......what a pathetic man he is!

I agree with spc, kanye has always been an attention whore. He continually does stupid sh*t just to stay in the spotlight, then blames it on booze or something else, then goes right back out and does more stupid sh*t. The guy is a racist and an egomaniac that can't cope with not having attention, if he really wanted to deal with his issues he wouldn't go on youtube he'd get counciling.

I don't know his history, just clicked and watched the video. Not forming any opinions because if he just lost his Mom then he's going to be messed up for at least 6 months. When I lost mine it took 3 months for me to think I was okay. Another 3, before everyone else did. Grief is a really hard thing to go thru, and unless you have gone thru it, it's not something anyone will understand. The pain of losing someone close, someone that you have known a lifetime, is awful. I hope he finds peace.
