Lemingheads, Lament: Josiah Is Gone!

Posted Wed Feb 13, 2008 6:42pm PST by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

Well, only hours after I sung the praises of American Idol semi-finalist Josiah Leming and prematurely cleared a space for his voting number on my speed-dial (sorry, Mom, I'll re-program your number later), I've been hit with the shocking news that this favorite contestant of mine did not make it through to the final 24.

I'm about to cry on cue--just like Josiah himself!

Seriously, despite Josiah's barely-standing version of "Stand By Me" last night, I stood by him. I definitely still thought he was worthy of a spot among the the 12 final boys. And my respect for him only grew when I checked out his MySpace page and discovered that his influences included cool, credible Britpop bands like Radiohead, Travis, Blur, Echo & the Bunnymen, Oasis, Supergrass, and Keane (not to mention Mika, the U.K songwriter he covered on last night's show).

I honestly can't believe a Brit like Simon Cowell let a promising young Anglophile like Josiah slip away. Blimey!

Well, until the Idol powers-that-be reinstate the "wild card" policy that once gave ousted Idol semi-finalists like Clay Aiken a second chance, I encourage all my fellow Lemingheads to petition on the message board below, begging Simon, Randy, and Paula to give poor Josiah another shot. Or at least encourage Idol sponsor Ford Motors give the boy a new Focus or something, so he has a nicer, newer car to sleep in.

And since we won't be seeing Josiah on future American Idol episodes, I'll leave you with this amateur video of the boy wonder in all his fake-English-accented glory. He will be missed:

Good thing they got rid of him early so we weren't subjected to another annoying washrag like Sanjaya week after week.

No talent judges , cannot identify real talent. Just a bunch of washed up big headed fakes. They should have Josiah judge their performances and oust them.

43. Yahoo! Music User -
I think they should bring him back mostly because the talent this year isn't as great as they keep telling us - and Josia had more personality and character than the last two idol winners combined.

He definately deserved a chance to go on, he should have had the chance to aspire to his dreams......he's got it, just needed to be included in their vote.

Can we get rid of the R&B bologne with the falsettos? Where is the alternative musicians? Oh wait, Idol cuts them. Is it b/c alternative bands do not need big record labels?

46. tiff -
i am glad to see him leave...i personally think living inhis car was just a put on anyway! did you see how much weight he had gained before last night...hello he moved back home!

I wasn't intending on watching Idol this year, but the first episode that I watched this season had Josiah's very first audition. I instantly fell in love with his voice and his story. He deserves to be in the top 24 more than that 16 year old kid (forgive me because even though I'm a fan of him as well I'm horrible with names). Give the younger one another chance next year when he's a little older.

I was very disappointed to see Josiah cut from the final 24. He is so obviously talented both as a writer and singer. He will be successful in the music business. This just wasn't his time or venue. Someone with vision will scoop him up and get him on the road to success. We have not heard the last of him.

So he is down on luck..My god give him a chance to get out of that car....

50. chris -
next year

He was robbed and his accent only came out when he would sing just like actors with accents that can speak without it! He should be given a new car def. as there are some guys that I don't believe are as talented as Josiah! Good luck Josiah and God Bless!

He had more potential than the last two "boys" (geeky nerd and blond hair surfer boy) ... he had his annoying points, but he was more talented with more potential. His sound is a little "coldplay" like.

I think he should be brought back too.He
is very talanted . If he gets a chance he
he can prove it.

54. Scott -
he was not ready, he could not work with the band every one elts did and was ready I thought he was real good but needs to mature more then come back

55. Madhattter -
I was shocked i wanted to make it. He will grow and come back even better. GOOD LUCK !!!

boy has talent! My heart broke last night

I've never been a follower of american idol, but i fell in love with the show when i heard josiah sing for the first time and thought they would give someone with his kind of passion for music a chance, sadly i was wrong and i probably won't watch the show as i can get my fill of karaoke warriors at the local bar. josiah if you have or put out a cd i'll buy it :) much faster than i would that of any previous idol, winner.

I think it's a racist show. They seem more concerned about not offending the Negro's than they do picking the true talent...

59. Yahoo! Music User -
Come on, man.... He was the only one I was interested in watching.....(HEAVY SIGH)

Really really hated to see him go, because now I don't have any reason to watch.....

60. Jennifer -
I am so disappointed to see him go. I was looking so forward to see how far he would go. Hopefully this opportunity will open some doors for Josiah.
