Lemingheads, Lament: Josiah Is Gone!

Posted Wed Feb 13, 2008 6:42pm PST by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

Well, only hours after I sung the praises of American Idol semi-finalist Josiah Leming and prematurely cleared a space for his voting number on my speed-dial (sorry, Mom, I'll re-program your number later), I've been hit with the shocking news that this favorite contestant of mine did not make it through to the final 24.

I'm about to cry on cue--just like Josiah himself!

Seriously, despite Josiah's barely-standing version of "Stand By Me" last night, I stood by him. I definitely still thought he was worthy of a spot among the the 12 final boys. And my respect for him only grew when I checked out his MySpace page and discovered that his influences included cool, credible Britpop bands like Radiohead, Travis, Blur, Echo & the Bunnymen, Oasis, Supergrass, and Keane (not to mention Mika, the U.K songwriter he covered on last night's show).

I honestly can't believe a Brit like Simon Cowell let a promising young Anglophile like Josiah slip away. Blimey!

Well, until the Idol powers-that-be reinstate the "wild card" policy that once gave ousted Idol semi-finalists like Clay Aiken a second chance, I encourage all my fellow Lemingheads to petition on the message board below, begging Simon, Randy, and Paula to give poor Josiah another shot. Or at least encourage Idol sponsor Ford Motors give the boy a new Focus or something, so he has a nicer, newer car to sleep in.

And since we won't be seeing Josiah on future American Idol episodes, I'll leave you with this amateur video of the boy wonder in all his fake-English-accented glory. He will be missed:

I loved this guy! Yes, I was a jerk and shed a few tears when the judges said no to him.. Give him a new car or something! COme on FORD! His parents need to come in and take over and give this kid some love that I think he needs and deserves...What a wonderful young man..Someone help him and give him a chance.I know he has a lot of talent and he should persue it to the end...Just because one does not make it on IDOL does not mean there are not other roads to take. He did get the exposure on TV now lets see what happens..ALL THE BEST TO YOU JOSIAH!!!

Frankly, among all the boys he was the best. They put through boys with mediocre auditions, however he had one bad one and they know very well that Josiah can sing and he doesn't make it through???? Bring him back.

lets be honest folks. he doesnt have a strong voice yet. he needs A LOT of improvement and im glad he didnt get to move on. the top 24 should be for the TOP 24.
he still needs a lot of work. those who were put through are better

I thought he was unique...and just confident, not so much pretentious. I wish he would have made it...but he seems to have a drive that isn't going to stop him regardless of the fame of American Idol. Look at the hype he has already created! :)

O.K....I'm upset! What's going on...he needed to go on!!!! He was different...
...advancement could of only done him justice!!! He was a pretty cool dude! I didn't think he was thinking to much of himself...his last performance (stand by me), which he song alone, was only done because he wasn't able to keep in time with the band!! I say...to make it the best Idol ever....they need to do the wild card and bring him back!!!!!!!! What do you think???????

Both songs in the videos sound the same, only one is faster than the other...... the kid who made the final 24 showed more maturity than this guy

A.I. Bring him back..we want to see more of Josiah...

108. Brad -
If you can't look past the fact that the night before he was distraught at not being able to get it right with the band so he thought his only real way out was to work without them - then you were not paying attention! he wanted it more and has less arrogance than most that enter this show, too bad we won't get a chance to see his true talent now that reality and injustice has slapped him and us in the face!!

I am so shocked Josiah was cut. Please make it right & bring him back! He has his own style & is allowed one mistake right? Young & fresh, no cookie cutter....

I think he'll make it...not with American Idol, but I'm sure someone saw the talent he has and they will do something about it..

I was so sad to see Josiah gone. He was my favorite. I think he deserves another chance. If he doesn't get that chance, I sure hope he works hard this year & comes back next year. I will keep my eyes open for him. Love ya Josiah! Good luck in all you do.

HE MADE ME WANT TO PUKE...WHAT A WHINEY PHONEY....GLAD HE'S GONE

Josiah should DEFINITELY be a part of the Idol semifinalists. He is interesting, talented, and destined for a music career. It is a shame that he was cast off when the remaining men are thoroughly uninteresting. I care little about whether someone can hit a high C...I care that the individuals are sincerely talented...BOO American Idol. Get him back on the show...come up with some kind of wild card!

he's looks like a bright musician. i'd say he has future ahead of him.who cares about american idol, the only interesting thing about american idol is when ppl come to embaress themselves on nat'l tv.now thats worth watching.

hmmmm homeless and has a myspace page?

My heart was broken and deeply disappointed to see him go. I'd like to see him back as a second chance.... Let's root for him...........

Josiah is a very good singer. Yes, he is young and he crys but that only makes him a better person. He should be bought back, as a wild card, so sing. He could have won it all. I am older than most of you and I see something in him that no one else has. Maybe Simon will reconsider and bring him back. I will keep Josiah in my prayers and hope that he will be alright.

118. Clem -
That guy annoyed the you know what out of me. I'm so glad he didn't make it.

119. Christa -
Bring back the wild card! Josiah deserves a second chance!

Wait, he lives in a car yet has a myspace page? How does that work?
