Lemingheads, Lament: Josiah Is Gone!

Posted Wed Feb 13, 2008 6:42pm PST by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

Well, only hours after I sung the praises of American Idol semi-finalist Josiah Leming and prematurely cleared a space for his voting number on my speed-dial (sorry, Mom, I'll re-program your number later), I've been hit with the shocking news that this favorite contestant of mine did not make it through to the final 24.

I'm about to cry on cue--just like Josiah himself!

Seriously, despite Josiah's barely-standing version of "Stand By Me" last night, I stood by him. I definitely still thought he was worthy of a spot among the the 12 final boys. And my respect for him only grew when I checked out his MySpace page and discovered that his influences included cool, credible Britpop bands like Radiohead, Travis, Blur, Echo & the Bunnymen, Oasis, Supergrass, and Keane (not to mention Mika, the U.K songwriter he covered on last night's show).

I honestly can't believe a Brit like Simon Cowell let a promising young Anglophile like Josiah slip away. Blimey!

Well, until the Idol powers-that-be reinstate the "wild card" policy that once gave ousted Idol semi-finalists like Clay Aiken a second chance, I encourage all my fellow Lemingheads to petition on the message board below, begging Simon, Randy, and Paula to give poor Josiah another shot. Or at least encourage Idol sponsor Ford Motors give the boy a new Focus or something, so he has a nicer, newer car to sleep in.

And since we won't be seeing Josiah on future American Idol episodes, I'll leave you with this amateur video of the boy wonder in all his fake-English-accented glory. He will be missed:

I think he deserved a chance, he had the talent to make it.

Bring him back! I never watch american idol. I started to because of this kid and of course "you are my brother, my best friend forever" who can ever forget that? But to the point this kid is talanted. I wish I saw him in his car bc i would invite him to sleep over my house (I do have an extra room). Austin tx. Man, my girl and I would love to have you over josiah. We're fans

Dear Simon, Paula and Randy. If there is anyway possible to get Josia back in the competition our entire family all 33 of us would be most greatful. We see great potential in this young man. I think Simon did the right thing by " knocking him down a peg " and it was an eye opener for the young man. Thank You....

I am sure JOSIAH can use computers at any library...Geeze...They do have more than books there.

165. Yahoo! Music User -
Hasn't anyone heard of a Public Library? You don't necessarily need your own internet or your own computer. Cut the kid some slack. He's young, with a young maturity level. He needs some parental guidance. Parents????

I am glad to see him go, he was so phony it was ridiculous. And to dismiss the band like that was egotistical.

167. Miranda -
I am shocked that they cut Josiah. I guess he just didn't fit the cookie cutter profile that they are looking for. My vote is for Josiah

Good luck Josiah!! I think American Idol made the right decision .. quite possibly persuing the song writing side of things instead of t he performance side at this time. You are a very strong person and I'm sure we will see you again at AI or see your name in lights somewhere along the line!!! I enjoyed your story and performances!!

169. DearBobbye -
His talent is not the question. He had no respect for the panel, the band, the coaches and the audience. He was arrogant. THAT's WHY he was cut. Had he been humble, he would still be there.

well I dnt exactly agree with most of the people on here I think he is a brave and outstanding person' songwritter, singer ALL together! I loved him and it upset me to see him go I wish they would have a wild card entry b/c he'd definitly get my vote!!! He was not scared to take chances and he changed up his tune almost everytime he sang showing that his talent is great!!!

yea give it this years talent is better then other years but there are a few who made it who in my opinion shouldnt have even gotten past the first hollywood auditions!

good luck to Josiah!

They should bring him back...remember what Simon said about him...that is the one audition he will remember.

Make no mistake about it, that kid needs some help! Classic bipolar symptoms! This kid may not be alive in a year without some serious counseling and meds. Why is no one talking about that?

bring Josiah back, He is in the middle of his Dream,
We Need to see The Whole Dream.

He needs a mentor, some one to mold and shape him.
He has been on his own, making all his decisions, it must of been hard to let go of the band,
He knows what he wants he just dosn't have a clear vision,
maybe Simon id the man?

He will back
just can't wait to see how and where.

I was about to cry when I saw he was ousted!!! He is very talented and charismatic; not to mention cute as a button. In all honesty, some of the contestants that made it to the guys' Top 12 weren't all that good, at least not based on the snippets they showed from their H'wood week. I stand by my opinion that Josiah should be brought back and given a chance. Then again, he might suffer the Chris Daughtry fate: being voted out and having a more successful music career than the winner of AI for that season (I've already forgotten who it was).

I can't bring myself to erase Tuesday's American Idol because I just keep watching Josiah's performance of "Grace Kelly". It was my favorite American Idol moment, hands down. Josiah was wronged!

If that little weenie would have shed one more tear....I was going to jab an icepick into my eye!!!

Listen, this kid spent more time crying and complaining than singing/rehearsing. Grow up, it's a tough world out there and he'll never make it at anything if he doesn't. Simon was right - he's not always nice, but 90% of the time right. I just find it amazing the "children" that didn't make it stating that it was "the worst day of my life"
-no, you're healthy, talented, free and living in the U.S. - it's another "great" day of your life!

178. Vin -
Josiah needs to grow up and get a job...please

josiah needs to be put back on the show, especially since
less talented people were chosen ! TRIPLEMMM

I think he definately has the talent for this competition and an 18 year old boy in tears is nothing new and I dont think any of you that called him a wuss can handle that kind of pressure.....what did you think when the male winners cried? Not wusses are they? Like Clay Aiken making it back after getting cut, this boy is much, much greater than Clay will ever be and I hope only the best for him!!
