The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of Heidi Montag's Music

Posted Mon Feb 4, 2008 1:21pm PST by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

Well, you knew it was coming. You knew it was only a matter of time before Heidi Montag moved on from The Hills. She has a new hill to climb now, and she's hoping her debut music video "Higher" will help her reach new heights of pop-culture stardom. Or starlet-dom, more specifically.

The video features the California girl on familiar territory--a beach, of course--the ideal sun-drenched setting for her to rock a pink bikini and thus flaunt her, um, newly surgically enhanced "hills," if ya catch my drift.

"Higher" is familiar in another way, too, as its grainy footage of Heidi frolicking in the surf and on sandy turf instantly brings to mind classic beach-babe videos like Madonna's "Cherish," Janet Jackson's "Love Would Never Do Without You," and Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game." However, while those videos were directed by the late photography great Herb Ritts, "Higher" was in fact lensed by Heidi's TV boyfriend, amateur cameraman Spencer Pratt.

Now, I'm not saying Spencer hasn't had previous experience shooting video of Heidi (he's probably become pretty adept at working in the nightvision medium--ahem). But he's no Herb Ritts.

So...what about Heidi's song? Oh, come on, does it really matter? If you must know, well, it's okay. Comparing it to recent tunes by other reality-TV starlets, I'd say it's not as memorable as Paris Hilton's "Stars Are Blind," but not as forgettable as Paula Abdul's "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow." But it's just as ProTooled and processed as those two songs. Because let's face it, the only entity selling singles more processed than the ones by those ladies is Kraft.

Anyway, "Higher" is what it is. I could tell you that the video is terrible and the song is worse, but you'd still wanna watch. So go 'head already:

wow, is this a porn video? I thought Britney's latest was bad, this is horrible. She really can't sing either. Not to mention spencer seriously can't direct a video.

At the end she asks "Am I Dreaming"? OOH YAH Honey, cause you must be dreaming you can sing !!!! I tell you i was having a crappy day, and now after the laugh of my life, i feel much better. What did Spencer direct that??? The ONLY reason that song will get ANY hits is for people to laugh at!!!!! YOU ARE SOO DESPERATE, IT'S SAD !!!!

63. Karla -
Was she on a budget for this or did one of her friends filmed it for her?!?! its the crappiest video i've EVER seen! and the cheapest song EVER!!! Heidi stick to reality T.V.

64. Yahoo! Music User -
I need to be higher, higher to endure this video. I'm embarrassed for her...

It's bad enough Spencer is an egomaniac and controlling but now he has to expose an innocent and naive Heidi to soft porn videos!! Nice bod and fakies but girl you need to keep that voice under lock and key. If only you listened to your friends and stayed away from your "man" you wouldn't be in this position. BTW, your directing skills are straight from preschool. The lip synching is way off...nice job lames.

66. malisa -
WOW ITS LIKE SHE GOT UP ONE DAY AND SAID "BABE i FEEL LIKE MAKING A MUSIC VIDEO "

What a joke! She is a sad girl....grow up already....she acts like an 9yr old. Find some maturity and loose the 'i wanna be a pop star' cause you stink. It is hard to believe money really can by anything...even a video. lol

71. Wanda -

ROFL...this is a JOKE, right? She definitely cannot sing, in my opinion. She looks good, but the vocals are horrendous!

74. Caroline -

The song and video is awful!!! It amazes me that she even thinks it's halfway decent! I believe this will hurt her career more than it will help.

77. Yahoo! Music User -

78. CWD -
Lauren must be laughing all the way to the "spoiled privledge up bringing Laguna" !!! U R PATHETIC !!! I really hopes that she takes the time to read these comments.

79. Yahoo! Music User -
instead of higher, try out these adjectives: awful, terrible, pathetic, wrong, bad, and ridiculous. Lauren MUST be laughing...

Hands down one of the worst songs I've ever heard. It's embarrassing! I couldn't even watch the whole thing because I was so embarrassed for her. Heidi, you're a cute girl, but honestly...do you really think that was a good video??

HEY YAHOO....I'd LOVE to hear what SHE thought of it!
