Chris Daughtry Goes Gaga!

Posted Thu Jul 2, 2009 12:32pm PDT by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

American Idol's Chris Daughtry is a scruffy, soul-patched, denim-clad, boy-next-door type who traffics in heartland-friendly, somewhat Nickelbackian arena rock. Lady Gaga is an artsy, avant-garde, Brooklynite electro-goddess with a penchant for neon leotards, zippered eyepatches, hairbows fashioned out of actual hair, and divalicious dance-a-teria beats.

Nope, it doesn't seem like these two would have anything in common, musically or culturally. It's pretty difficult to imagine Chris Daughtry ever uttering the line "I wanna take a ride on your disco stick," for instance, or Lady Gaga ever covering a Fuel tune.

But the bottom line is, a good song is a good song is a good song. And there's no denying that Gaga's "Poker Face" is a great song. Even Chris can't deny it. So recently when he performed acoustic and solo on a German radio station, he put on his best poker face and played this dead-serious, surprisingly solid version of Lady Gaga's big crossover pop hit:

Wow!

While it's doubtful that Chris will be working with Gaga's producer RedOne any time soon (as fellow Idol rocker Adam Lambert is currently doing), I must commend Chris for--as Simon Cowell or Paula Abdul might say--making this song his own.

Talented Guy!!!!!

Interesting take, the problem is, every song he sings ends up sounding the same. I guess that's why everyone is attracted to different voices. Nice try tho.

To say anything from today’s lemmingesk music is "great" is pure laughable. Then to claim the song Poker Face is "great" is an insult to music and those who listen to it. Poker Face is nothing but noise with overtures and an 11 second loopature of bass line and random computer created rhythm that a high school kid could create in 5 minutes of tapping on his book bag. Oh, whoa is he that is willing to sell their ears and souls to crap like this and other main stream media hip hop and pop 40 music. John Lennon would have killed him self if he knew this is where music was heading.

so , lyndsey parker, if you think poker face is a great song, then you have absolutly horrible taste in music. i feel sorry for you. just jumping on whatever musical bandwagon happens to be in style for the moment. as robert smith wrote for the cure :jumping someone else's train. if you pick, up on it quick, if you say were there, again and again and again youre jumping someone else's train. like this loser Daughtrey. horrible.

To all who worship Daughtry and american idol, and try to trash Lady Gaga who wrote and sang this unique song: You guys like that song because Daughtry sing it? You guys are so jealous at Lady Gaga success and need to get a life. If you guys think Daughtry is talented why he couldn't write a good unique song and has to sing someone else song. If you have to sing someone else song, it is because you don't know how to write good music and you suck...get it? Lady Gaga is currently number one in the world and hundred time more famous than all other idols combined...get it?

Lady GaGa is Awesome & I'm GaGa over her, new material will propel her to even-up with Stafani and others.Maybe after she rests from Europe she'll captivate us again in the US.
