Randy Jackson Talks 'American Idol' Season 9
It seems like American Idol season 8 ended just the other day, and with last season's Idols staying squarely in the public consciousness due to their successful summer tour and slew of new fall albums (Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, and Allison Iraheta all excitingly release their debuts in the coming month), it's hard to comprehend that in just two months, a whole new season of Idol will kick off. But it's true, so when AmIdol judge Randy Jackson recently stopped by the Yahoo! offices, naturally I tried to pump him for as much info as possible about season 9:
So...will there be a Wild Card round? A Judges' Save? What has it been like without Paula Abdul? How did the guest judges fare? How will Ellen DeGeneres fit in? Will Hollywood Week be full of drama? Will a girl win this time? And what exactly are the judges looking for? Well, Randy was tight-lipped about some of these issues, but he's obviously no shy and retiring type, so it didn't take too much to get the dawg barking--as evidenced from our interview above.
Get ready for American Idol season 9!

And Jane, I do agree with you 100%!
And Jane-
love your picture. hehehehe.
man, this show is a bless) it gives outstanding people a stage where they can literally shine, so I suggest if not to vote - but to at least watch X)
SILENECE OF THE LAMBERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AI is rigged. No reality. No raw talent, as in the 1st season(s).
Leaves me with a been-there-done-that attitude--it is so contrived.
Then they make these people work for a year as relative slave labor, while they rake in $100s of M or $1B ? Just perverse.
And where are the past winners, or runners up? Clarkson, Aiken, the blonde country chick who won awards, but I can't even remember her name right now?
No real launch into stardom, just a gimmic to use people, and make money off them.
Losing audience? Just shuffle formats and judges a bit, drag out some more old lame music from eras long-gone-by, and run another season. [Where's the "hip" new music--the target of a young audience? We left that behind several years ago.]
So, no more rushing home, or TIVOing AI for me, There's other trash to watch on TV/Cable now that is more engaging.
I'm sorry, but he said it over 50 times and I only watched half the video.
Still Love Ya Dawg!
