Vote For The Worst Names Its New Pick

Posted Fri Mar 21, 2008 5:24pm PDT by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

With former V4TW posterchildren Danny Noriega and Amanda Overmyer now out of the American Idol running, Vote For The Worst has been forced to get behind another contestant. And it's no surprise whom the V4TW powers-that-be picked:

i don't worry too much about v4tw anymore since their picks have not done too well. v4tw doesn't seem to have too much power over voting anymore. the site is fun tho.

Thank you LP for keeping us up to date on all the latest Idol news. Is this your 9th column in about 72 hours? Your hardwork is very much appreciated.

Kristy even looks cute in the cartoon, and love the horse.

KLC was my prediction to replace Amanda on VFTW. As a fan of hers, I just see it as a credit to the level of talent this year.

V4TW.com had earlier declared "she's too marketable and slightly boring compared to Amanda's wild chile". Kristy Lee is not the ideal Worster (by far). Nonetheless, as disappointing as last week's Beatles renditions were, the truth is the pickings are slim this year among the Top 10 for a Worster.

I had read (03/17/2008 9:00 AM, E! Online)that Idol blogger Rickey Yaneza of Rickey.org had declared that if V4TW was really trying to rid the show of its weakest link, it'd be gunning for Syesha Mercado or Kristy Lee Cook, NOT Amanda Overmeyer. I didn't agree with his argument. Further he said, "The worst right now is Syesha. At least with Kristy Lee, she's hot." I didn't understand that declaration either because both women are hot, while his comment implied that one is a hottie and the other a nottie. Even accounting for personal taste (i.e., "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"), Syesha is certainly at least pretty (personally, I find her drop-dead gorgeous, esp. with curly hair). Consequently, Vote for the Worst's recent selection arguably proves producers' contentions that this year's batch of contestants are a pretty talented bunch (I am not agreeing they're the BEST EVER though).

Just my opinion.

I think the pickings are slim as well. I'm in the minority I know when I say this, but even Amanda Overmeyer - with her limited vocal range - had merits.

The site usually explains 'why they love their choice.' Can't wait to read their rationale. Remember they said of Amanda:
"She mumbles through her song, does crazy dancing and basically makes a mockery of the competition by singing every song the same way. This is why we love her."

The Idol-subverting site has a tough job now. But if KLC goes next, I bet their pick will be Ramiele.

I hope Kristy Lee's fans will respond here. I'd like to read what they think. Thank-you LP for another interesting update. You're the BEST!!!

Wonder why they chose KLC? I wonder because not too long ago the site called KLC "a plant," as in a ringer, for her onetime Nashville record deal. And as E! Online
reported, "plants, not bad singers, are what Vote for the Worst seems to most hate. The site, after all, is dedicated to drumming up votes for contestants who 'the producers are rooting against.' Hence, it's season-five endorsement of the Simon Cowell loathed Taylor Hicks, the eventual winner."

I'm a fan of hers, but I guess the people who see her as the new Sanjaya have something to chat about.

13. Yahoo! Music User -
I'm off to the site now to read the rationale. This should be interesting. The site said Amanda's "rendition of 'Carry on My Wayward Son' was one of the worst vocals on Idol. Ever," when they named her their pick for the worst.

14. Yahoo! Music User -
So Kristy it is.

15. Yahoo! Music User -
If the Vote for the Worst votes keep Kristy Lee Cook safe and help her get a spot in Idol's Top 9, 8, 7 etc., well, worse things have happened.

16. Yahoo! Music User -
The site isn't having much luck lately. If they were, they wouldn't have to pick a new person. LOL. Kristy gets an automatic entrée into the American Idols Live tour lineup. So she's a winner either way.

17. Yahoo! Music User -
We can't deny I suppose that VotefortheWorst.com has been right on the money thus far this season, despite the fact that few voters seem to be taking the site's advice. After championing Amy Davis and Danny Noriega, their most recent pick was Overmyer. So will this matter?

18. Yahoo! Music User -
Overmyer is the third Vote for the Worst candidate this season to fail to get enough votes to stay on the show. So their success rate is pretty dismal this time.

19. Yahoo! Music User -
Even a cartoon Kristy is a cute Kristy. LOL.

Oh I just read the fineprint on the poster above. "Our picks seem to be cursed. So if we pick Kristy, since not even we love her, she'll go home this week. Yay! And if she stays, it'd still be funny. It's win-win!"

If you read the responses to LP's Wednesday night column re: Amanda's elimination, Kristy has a lot of love among LP's regular readers. I kid you not when I say I have read all 1000+ responses. I noticed the affection for KLC and I am not a fan of KLC.
