McPheever Cools Down
Man, the axe keeps falling over at American Idol HQ. And Kat's the latest to get the cut.
Perhaps the folks over and BMG/19 Management are trying to clear some room for all the new Idols they will presumably sign to record deals after American Idol's successful seventh season. But whatever the reason for all this recent BMG bloodletting, it's just been confirmed--only a day after the announcement that Idol alums Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard were now free agents--that season 5 finalist Katharine McPhee has also been dropped by BMG.
According to a painfully diplomatic and tight-lipped record label spokesperson, "Katharine McPhee has moved on to support her other entertainment activities."
Really now, how are upcoming Idol contestants supposed to get excited about being on this show, when it's becoming glaringly obvious that winning Idol is no guarantee of ANYTHING anymore?
I honestly don't understand how American Idol is going to maintain its Cinderella-story image of waving their Clive Davis-brandished magic wands and transforming great unknown talents into overnight superstars, when Clive and Simon keep turning their discoveries back into pumpkins.
I'm not the biggest Katpacker around (I'm more of a Soul Patroller myself), but here's hoping Katharine is able to find another glass slipper--aka, another record label--that fits.

On the other hand, Jordin Spark's album got great reviews, she is truly an amazing singer. She is such a beautful and natural performer. Since buying the album I have listened to it many times and enjoy it more every time I listen to it. My prayer is that her career will soar like the star that she is.
I found her album and other highly rated albums for awesome prices here:

Thank Goodness she is away from you know who.
She will make them all eat C--W
Most Real talent is not dug out of a long line of people who think they are the best, but found by chance in a back cafe or through hard work, sleepless nights, doing almost anything to prove their deseire and will-power, singing their hearts out, sleeping in their cars in Nashville.
and i completely agree with JPC fan4LIFE, any company is going to let you go if you aren't producing, or at least make it so miserable for you that you leave on your own accord. seems to me that such a move is usually good for the person. sometimes you find personalities that you can work with better and thus produce better work because you're simply a better team.
o step up r game, name isnt enough to get a record deal
I'm more mourning to Idol-maker process in general. I think the show used to really have impact, but now its influence has been diluuted. Now even the winners have a good chance of failing...which makes the show overall less credible.
I'm more sad about Taylor and Ruben being dropped, honestly...
Love your blog!
It was her decision to leave the label, she signed with timewarner recently and now is recording her second album with david foster.
Yes Taylor and Ruben werent the greatest winners, but given the right producers they have been great. Personally all the winners produce average debuts they are forced to record what they are TOLD to record. They have NO creative control. Look at DAUGHTRY he came in third so we wasnt forced to produce something he didnt want to do, and the album was HUGE! Just look at this pass years talent Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis both albums TANKED, given more time and creative control is could have been great.
I personally think IDOL is doing GREAT rating's wise but talent they are failing.
GIVE THEM TIME AND MORE CONTROL!
