New Song By Bo Bice, Not So Nice

Posted Fri Sep 21, 2007 11:53am PDT by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

Don't get me wrong--I'm a card-carrying member of the Bice Squad. And I was a bona fide Boter (voter for Bo Bice) during American Idol season 4. And I was thrilled to bits to learn that Bo was returning to his Southern-rock roots on his upcoming sophomore album, See The Light, since I think his watered-down, Clive Davis-helmed debut, The Real Thing, was anything BUT the real good-ole-boy Bo.

But then I heard Bo's new single, "Witness." And yikes, I feel like entering the Witness Protection Program after that assault on my ears.

No wonder Bo looks so sad on his new album cover. No wonder this new album will be (surprise!) self-released.

I still believe in Bo. I still think Bice is nice. Really, I do. But for now I'd rather not "see the light," thank you very much. Sorry, but I think I'll just watch Bo perform this far more listenable Audioslave song instead:

Lyndsey, I'm sorry that you aren't a fan of "Witness". For me, this is the rockin' growling Bo that I've been waiting for since Clive Davis tried to turn him into a pop star (what was he thinking?). Give the CD a chance - don't base it on one song that you'd rather not listen to. Every CD has that for every artist - a song that is not their favorite. "See the Light" has awesome tunes that I've already heard Bo perform. I guarantee you will hear the Bo that is music for your soul on the CD.

Anyone who does not find this cd to be amazing is not a Bo fan to start with, so you haven't seen him live performing these incredible songs that just blow you away. This man has so much energy, charisma and talent...we walk away from these concerts in awe of him. If you're willing to have an open mind, give the cd more than a passing glance, and then give your opinion.

Please give the entire CD a chance. Don't base your choice on one song....Bo is an awesome performer, he just draws you in. This is the Bo we all wanted after AI and I am very happy with "Witness"! The entire CD will rock!

Gosh, and I can't stop listening to "Witness", I love it. I've already pre-ordered the album from Wal*Mart.

Thanks for posting "Doesn't Remind Me"! I haven't seen that in a while.

Maybe you are one of us people who prefer the slower, softer side of Bo's voice. That doesn't mean that there aren't many, many people who prefer this more rockin side. One great thing about Bo is that he can sing anything and there's something to please everyone. That being said, I think we should hear the whole CD and then make our judgements. According to the list of songs on the CD, there should be something there that everyone will like. Bo Bice is an amazing gift of talent with great diversity in his music, he is also an amazing man with not only outer beauty, but inner beauty as well. Bo is going to succeed whether the reviews are great or not so great. Go Bo!

Sorry, Lindsey, but I think you should give the whole album a chance when it comes out! You may change your mind, especially if you bost to being a Bo-Fan!
Personally, I think "Witness" Rules!!!!!

As others have commented, I hope you will give the whole album a chance. Personally, I really like Witness, but, not everyone has same taste. If you are a "card carrying' fan of Bo, you know that he will bring a variety of sounds to his CD. I've been fortunate enough to see Bo perform most of the songs on this new CD and they are already fan favorites to the audiences.

I'm proud of Bo. He's staying true to himself and to his music roots. His CD will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart. Pretty amazing for a "self-release" project.

I'm sorry you didn't like Witness. The majority of his fans are impressed and excited with this song. He has a great voice and is a great performer. Hope you will give the song another listen and give the album a chance.

I think you will find a wonderful collection of music on this CD, and I think you will be missing a lot if you don't listen to the rest of it with an open mind. I personally love Witness and can't stop listening to it; however, this CD is going to really showcase Bo's wonderful voice on a variety of songs. If you really are a "Bo fan", I believe you will like this CD, and I hope you have the opportunity to see him perform these live in concert!. Hope you will give it a chance.

AHH come on give the cd a chance. You must not be a "true "B0 fan if you won't listen to the WHOLE cd before you make your judgement. This is what we TRUE Bo fans have been waiting for. This CD is going to be awesome. Not the pop crap old Clive made him do. Rock on Bo!!!!!

I'm sorry you didn' like Witness. While it may not seem to you what he is about, it is one of the many facets of who he is as a musician. You might check out the snippets of the rest of the CD over at bobice.com and see what you think about them. You may find other songs on the CD that appeal more to you than Witness did. One thing that is wonderful about Bo is that his songs have a huge amount of variety unlike some musicians who have songs that sound so much alike it just seems like different lyrics were plugged in. I hope you won't write his new CD off on the basis of the one song you listened to.
