IDOL SPOILER ALERT: David Cook Wins!

Hey everyone...I'm at the Nokia Theater right now, so I won't be able to blog in detail about the American Idol finale until later tonight. But here's the one piece of vital info you need to know right now, just announced:

DAVID COOK IS YOUR NEW AMERICAN IDOL!

Man, this news just rocks. Literally!

Yes, the unassuming Missouri bartender with no Smithson-style showbiz connections has trumped aggressively hyped/stage-parented Star Search winner David Archuleta. America got it right this time. Thanks for rocking the vote, Idol fans! (And if those Internet rumors are true that this outcome was fixed, well then, I guess thanks to whomever rigged it in Cook's favor...)

I know I said in my earlier blog that I didn't want to David The C to win (ONLY because I was afraid it would ruin his career)...but now that I'm here in the middle of all this celebratory hubbub, I'm pretty pleased with the results. And Cook's career seems pretty intact so far. So huzzah for Cook!

The right David won. Tonights show proved that archie could not sing anything uptempo or comtemporary. He is nice to listen to but boring to watch! And, was it just me or did anyone else think he ruined the song apologize that he sang with one republic.

Can't wait to hear what DC releases to radio first.

I was for David C then I really started listening to David A's singing........A should have won, but maybe his immaturity was a turn-off for some fans. That being said, give David A a couple of years to mature then he'll outshine David C.......GUARANTEED !!

I am SO happy that David Cook won! Both Davids are awesome, but there's just something about David Cook's voice that makes him one of the best male singers of all time! I almost accidentally knocked my husband off the sofa when his name was announced -- I was jumping up and down and SOOOOOO happy!!! Congratulations, David Cook!!! You deserved to win this. And thanks to Simon for admitting he made somewhat of a blunder last night. That took guts, Simon -- well done. I am soooooooooo happy! HOORAY FOR DAVID COOK!!!!! :-)

It was SO touching to see him win. He seems to be a very humble man and he was always changing up the songs to make them "his". I didn't like David A., too much of a singer that you'd hear on the radio in the 80's...zzzzzzzz!

America, you definitely got it wrong this time. Archuleta won EVERY round last night and it was very obvious who the REAL American Idol should be......... Hang in there Archie, this may be the best thing that could have happened to you. Looking forward to your first CD!!

OHH it dont matter who wins...Its almost bad luck to win (except for carrie) You never hear about any other winner..its always the losers! But i did vote for Achuleta...he doesnt yell when he sings

Just awesome. Thank God people voted based on the whole season since the judges were not as kind to Cook.

David A. was the Stepford finalist...like a statue...no personality, not verbal...goofy and too giggly...can sing though.
David C...total package..maturity...inventive not afraid to take a risk...versatile...he will go far...like Daughtry.

I'm extremely upset that David Cook won tonight. Cook was dishonest and he used and exploited his brother's and his own health to gain sympathy from America, and hence he is the next American Idol. He had a current album on the charts at Amazon.com, which means that he has an active contract somewhere. Anyone who has signed an American Idol contract knows that you're not supposed to have any current active contracts. Sure, a few of the other Idols have put out records before, but their contracts are no longer valid with the labels that released them. David Cook's contracts are valid, if not with anyone else, with Amazon.com. If dishonesty is what wins this contest now, instead of talent, then Corey Clark should have won Season 2. Not to say that he isn't talented. He is. I just don't agree with how he went about winning. Like when Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard won their seasons, this show's season is tarnished.
