IDOL SPOILER ALERT: David Cook Wins!

Posted Wed May 21, 2008 7:02pm PDT by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

Hey everyone...I'm at the Nokia Theater right now, so I won't be able to blog in detail about the American Idol finale until later tonight. But here's the one piece of vital info you need to know right now, just announced:

DAVID COOK IS YOUR NEW AMERICAN IDOL!

Man, this news just rocks. Literally!

Yes, the unassuming Missouri bartender with no Smithson-style showbiz connections has trumped aggressively hyped/stage-parented Star Search winner David Archuleta. America got it right this time. Thanks for rocking the vote, Idol fans! (And if those Internet rumors are true that this outcome was fixed, well then, I guess thanks to whomever rigged it in Cook's favor...)

I know I said in my earlier blog that I didn't want to David The C to win (ONLY because I was afraid it would ruin his career)...but now that I'm here in the middle of all this celebratory hubbub, I'm pretty pleased with the results. And Cook's career seems pretty intact so far. So huzzah for Cook!

Come back later for a full report on my backstage/red carpet finale experience, but feel free to start posting your comments about the season 7 outcome now, and let me know if you agree that the right David won.

Now please excuse while I go make sure Papa Archuleta doesn't have a total meltdown...

I couldn't be happier that David Cook won. I stopped watching after season 4 when Carrie Underwood won. This season I just couldn't NOT WATCH. I was disappointed the last two seasons with the top 24's and this year I was just blown away. This season was by far the best season ever and David Cook soooooo deserves to be the American Idol. He's MY AMERICAN IDOL!!!!!

Yessss! America got it right tonight! David Cook was the best talent ALL SEASON! Even though David A turned in a somewhat, better performance Tuesday night the better talent triumphed overall. David Cook Rocks! Go David Cook!

America didn't get it right, but at least David Cook has much more talent than a lot of former Idol winners.

David Archuleta is American Idol! hands down he will be a bigger star then Cook. Cook will be back at the bar in a year or two.

I think that David A. should have won they should have given him a chance no matter how old he is, he deserves better. he had a better voice than David C. but he won so i can't argue with that.

HECK YEA! David Cook is such a great and versatile musician. He takes songs that were mundane and rocked them. He wouldn't be corralled and stereotyped and did his own thing. It paid off as it showed he can sing anything. Congrats David. Ill see you at the BOK center in September. Tulsa is proud of you!

WhooHooo
OMG I can believe they got it right tonight. David is so talented and seems so genuine. Very easy on the eyes which is a plus as well. I cant wait for his 1st CD. I will definately buy his music. That voice is like, sexy, sexy, sexy....
Live it up David Cook, you deserve it!!!!

The right person won.....Daughtry was robbed, Cook was not.

I can't believe all of the people suddenly jumping on the Cook bandwagon!!! lol. Oh, well, welcome aboard, I guess. hahahaha. As for some of the others, and you know who you are....that's just the way the sour grapes bounce.
