Kristy Lee Cook Extends Her 15 Minutes

Posted Tue Jul 1, 2008 11:05am PDT by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

Regular readers of this blog throughout American Idol season 7 know I was never what you'd call a Kristy Lee Cook fan. Or even a Kristy Lee Cook tolerator. But as an intrepid and (ahem) impartial music journalist of the highest and most respectable order, I feel obligated to report the following:

KLC has landed a record deal, y'all.

Ironically, it seems Kristy has won back what she already had: a contract with Arista Nashville.

See, as widely reported by Vote For The Worst et al, Kristy was originally signed to Arista Nashville in 1999 (see press-release photo at right), but she got dropped before she ever released an album.

She did, however, release this low-budget video, which troublingly earned her the nickname "KKKristy" due to its unfortunately un-PC set dressing:

Hopefully now that Kristy is back on Arista with a presumably bigger (read: Carrie Underwood-esque) budget, whoever directs her next video will wisely refrain from using Confederate flags as props.

Amusingly, though, KLC's upcoming single (out August 11) will be titled "15 Minutes Of Shame." Maybe the girl's actually got a good sense of humor after all.

And maybe now Kristy can finally buy back her horse.

And hey...maybe this news indicates that Carly Hennessy-Smithson will get back her old record deal with MCA, too! Stay tuned.

I don't think she is as bad as everyone claims. So she didn't make it on Idol big deal there are alot of singers out there( big name)that probably wouldn't make it on Idol either.Give the girl a chance.

Lyndsey,

I'm back , thanks had a great time, glad to see while I was gone that our florida gal got the boot on "SYTYCD".

I hope that this article makes it on Yahoo front page because if Joe T or Flash see it I am sure they would surley have a few comments for you.

You know I wasn't really a KLC fan but did think she got better towards the end.I don't know, will have to wait and see after she releases her first ablum to judge her, Hey if Jessica Simpson can do country I think KLC will have a chance.

Just my Thoughts.....

Hi from Jordin's former vocal coach! I really always liked Kristi - but lots of you are right - she DID get better and better as the season went on - good luck to her in her future vocal endeavors - its a tough business and i am so glad she is getting this opportunity. And to all future "stars" out there - good luck to you all as well!

American Idol, is a star maker over and over and over again, good for her I do Lee Greenwoods PR and when she sang GOD BLESS THE U.S.A. it was awesome and Lee called the show to share his approval on how great she did.

GOOD FOR HER!!!!!!

I don't see anything wrong with this video. I like Kristy's voice and I believe if she gets with the right people she can make something of herself. Good luck to Kristy!

Hey Myndee, who said I hate my job? I love it! That doesn't mean I love everyone I write about, though...
Sorry but I'm not quitting!

I think that is well deserved. I thought she should have made it to the end also. She has a terrific voice and she is a young talented beautiful girl. She will definately be successful. I would buy her music.

I THOUGHT THAT SHE WAS EASY ON THE EYES. HOWEVER HER SINGING ON MOST OCCASIONS LEFT SOMETHING TO BE DESIRED. SHE WILL DO FINE IN THE COUNTRY MUSIC INDUSTRY. SHE WILL SELL SOME RECORDS FOR SURE. I DON'T THINK HOWEVER SHE WILL BE A CARRIE UNDERWOOD. SHE WILL BE LUCKY TO BE AS GOOD AS KELLY PICKLER.

The way the video was shot does make it look low budget and dated. I didnt care too much for her on Idol, but she's not that bad. I could just fall asleep listening to her though, she's soo terribly boring. There's nothing to her voice that perks up my ears and make me want to take another listen.

I was very upset when she was voted off, She has an awesome voice and we all will her alot more of her than any other Idol.

18. JamilG -
I predicted that Kristi would have the best career even over the winner, I knew she would do like Carrie Underwood. And now I read the news today! She was always the total package! Talent and model looks! I love being right....muahhhh!

This girl is terrific - those self absorbed judges really should check the pulse of the people who pay their salary before dissing someone like this talent. And she is daggum prettier than most too.

20. BEVERLY B -
leave her alone i think that vido is grate and she has a grate voice, anyone who has a loved one going over will love it and relate to it

Pinetop Perkins' 80-year career still going

AP
Fri Nov 27, 2009 4:03am PST

AP - Noisy crowds in smoky bars don't bother 96-year-old bluesman Pinetop Perkins. It's all part of his job. Most nights, after he snuffs out his menthol cigarette, Perkins slides onto the piano bench in some club and … More »
