Jennifer Hudson's Slim Chance

Posted Thu Jul 10, 2008 3:32pm PDT by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

Is it just me, or does Jennifer Hudson look, um, DIFFERENT on her debut album's cover?

Seriously, not since Ann Wilson was electronically compressed from a size 16 to a size 2 in one of Heart's '80s music videos have I seen such a glaring example of what appears to be some sortĀ of digital diet. Because unless Jennifer has been on Beyonce's pre-Dreamgirls lemon-and-cayenne-pepper fasting plan for the past six months, this album art does NOT accurately represent the real Hudson from the neck down.

So, this looks like one extreme Photoshop makeover. But why? Jennifer looks great the way she is. Do the suits at RCA Records really think she'll shift more units with her head digitally decapitated and then Frankensteined onto some skinny mystery body? And do they really think her fans are unobservant enough to overlook such a radical renovation of her famously full figure?

You know, Effie would not stand for this, and neither should Jennifer. Neither should her fans.

And if this really is Jennifer's actual body, then someone please email me the name of her personal trainer, pronto.

And that's the skinny, for now.

If you all would watch her new video you would realize that the girl has lost some weight and looks good happy for her.

While I still think some photoshop has happened -- here's a recent photo of her with a similar dress...

I agree this is pretty dramatic. But lets be real. Albulm sale, box office sales, TV show ratings...are highly based on the APPEARANCE of their stars. Jennifer Hudson is in a competitive game...this is how they give her her edge. The truth is that sex sells in America, and unfortuanly we haven't matured enough as a society to accept big women as sexy all the time.

With as much money as Hudson is making I'm sure her looks are not an issue as with the number of men who would die to have a date with her...

"is this really news worthy?"
Nothing these days really is.

She had to approve the picture, so it was done with her consent. Why are you questioning something that was ultimately her decision? Maybe she wants to be thought of this way, and your opinion means squat to her. When you're on an album cover, then you can call the shots. And for all of those fat girls who feel defensive over this and think she's a traitor, I bet any one of you would have done the same if the choice was yours.

i think she will still look great no matter what and no matter what type of size she is or what she does to her body she still is a great role model and singer.u go jennifer hudson

It's reasonable that Jennifer Hudson has lost weight. Not to mention that she GAINED weight for Dreamgirls which was filmed in 2006. There are plenty of ways to lose weight quickly. Was the cover edited? Of course. There is no such thing as an unedited album cover by any artist of any genre. But you morons are exaggerating. I work in digital media. That's Ms. Hudson so move on. It may be edited, but not to the point that it's not her. It's all her, with a FEW touch-ups.

Sure, she looks a little smaller, but who cares? She's a nice lookin girl anyway.

I think they used her real body, but skimmed a little extra off the sides. If you look at her arms, they don't fit her body size.

both angles and the color black seem to helping reduce her mass on the cover. There could be some digital "dieting" going on here... but I'm inclined to think that a good photographer can make stuff like this appear without digital witchery.
I agree that she looks great the way she is... and doesn't need a sexy album cover to get this fan to purchase her album!

What celebrity hasn't been retouched in a photo? This isn't news.

138. Tony -
It really shouldn't matter what she looks like, she is a fantastic singer, and that's what should matter. but this society we live in has become so ignorant and shallow all we are concerned with is looks....Sad.

139. Shaun -
obviously a fake and we all know why. No one wants to eat pudding out of a trash bag.

140. Rashad -
sex sells, people.
