Fresh "Air": Rissi Palmer Breathes Life Into A Jordin Sparks Song

"No Air" was the one breath of fresh air on Jordin Sparks's debut album for me. Although I've never doubted that the season 6 AmIdol winner has a good set of pipes, I have for the most part been disappointed with the safe, snoozy post-show material's she's released.

The one exception has been "No Air," which I actually think is one of the best pop singles of 2008. I also think it's probably what saved Jordin from a sad, one-album-then-dropped, Taylor Hicks-like fate. Of course, it didn't hurt matters that her unstoppable and unfloppable labelmate Chris Brown appeared on the song, but even without his input, a good song is a good song is a good song.

Case in point: The new "No Air" cover by rising Nashville star Rissi Palmer. It's a country version, and Chris Brown is nowhere to be found on it, and it's still just as great.

Or is it? Some people might even say Rissi's version is better. Compare and contrast the remake and the original here, and you decide:

I liked both versions. Rissi's version was great but it could have ended with her under water to pass the "No Air" image better. But I lov Jordin Sparks version the best because my boy Chris Brown is in it and together they created the "No Air" scenario better.

I loved both. I liked how the original sounds-better as a duet. Although, I loved the actual video Rissi did. It was really sceinic and beautiful. Hmm.

Both are good...but it is the music that makes the difference. You don't have to be a country fan to love Rissi and her band! I was lucky enough to meet Rissi in person and have been her biggest fan ever since! Not only is she wonderfully talented, but she is a sweet heart too! Thanks for the tunes Rissi, you're the best!

I think Rissi has an amazing voice and I am interested in hearing more of her songs but I like the Jordin Sparks/Chris Brown original duet.

I like both of the versions of "No Air", but I have to say, Rissi's version is the best of the 2! She has an amazing singing voice. Go Rissi!!

I have not been impressed with Jordan yet. I think I'll give it time and see what she does with her second album (just like Kelly Clarkson's 2nd album was better once away from the American Idol machine). But for right now it's too pop and too produced. Not her fault.

Rissi's version is the best. And for those wondering why she doesn't have her own songs... HELLO she does! She's been around for a minute now. Check it out.

I love Jordin Sparks!! Her version With Chris Brown has more Character. Rissi's version is also good, but lacks definition of TWO great voices. Chris Brown's voice is what made Jordin's version better. GO JORDIN!!!

Well u can see who's fans where answering this. It was connected to Rissi's picture so... who is gonna answer it....people that are interested in Rissi. Good Luck and her voice is lovely, BUT Jordan all day!!

I think Jordin Sparks w/ Chris Brown version is much way better than Rissi Palmer. Nothing against country, but they should have kept that version to themselves. Jordin is way better than this girl. Jordin has an amazing voice and her version stands out. The original version is my favorite. Hate the new version. Jordin keep up the good work. Your entire CD is HOT!! Jordin Sparks............. definitely ROCKS!!!

Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown's version is the better of the two. this song is supposed to be a duet, not sung by one person. Rissin is good, but the original is better.
