So You Think You Can Dance Results: Final Fantastic 4 Revealed!

Posted Thu Jul 31, 2008 7:22pm PDT by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

Tonight's elimination episode was full of the most fun kind of filler: six finale-worthy solos (someone please tell me where I can get one of Twitch's "T" tees, because he really needs to launch his own T-shirt line already); a so-adorable-it-almost-hurt-to-watch breakdance routine to "Planet Rock" by a kid who put the "boy" in b-boy (a 6-year-old who'll probably be in the finale of SYTYCD season 16); and super-space-age performance by peroxide-blonde fembot Lady GaGa.

I was especially going gaga for Lady GaGa. That chick looked she was an alien from Planet Rock! She was a very kinky girl, the kind you don't take home to Mother, a superfreak, and she was superfreak-ing ouuuut. The albino Edgar Winter wig, the Thriller-era Jacko jacket, the hiked-up Flashdance leotard, the illuminated TimeLife-operator headset mic that made her look like she was gargling a mouthful of fireflies....daaaaannnng. I loved everything about her. Her performance of "Just Dance" was the weirdest thing I've ever seen on SYTYCD...and that's including all Mia Michaels, Mandy Moore, and Mark Kanemura routines! But it was weird in a good way, as far as I was concerned. I'm sure it was a polarizing performance--a quick skim of the SYTYCD message board on the Fox site indicates that Lady GaGa was NOT everyone's cup of psychedelic mushroom tea--but yo, I dug it.

But all of this was still filler. It was all a bunch of stall tactics--albeit very entertaining stall tactics--before Cat Deeley's big announcement of the evening, the reason why everyone was tuning in.

Finally, Cat got around to revealing the four dancers advancing to next week's season finale. Of course, this process was protracted and filler-filled too, packed with plenty of Wednesday-night recaps (c'mon, we saw last night's show already!), redundantly rehashed judge commentary (we already know what Nigel thinks!), and inconvenient commercial breaks. Argh!

Eventually Katee was the first contestant to make it through, which was no big shocker. Then the other no-brainer, Katee's equally gifted partner Josh, was next. Whoa, did I call it last night or what? I'd predicted it as such.

Well, don't call me Miss Cleo just yet. Because the next girl to make the finals was Courtney, who I'd predicted would get cut tonight in favor of Chelsie. Courtney seemed most shocked of all, but I was happy for her. She more than proved herself last night and earned her rightful spot.

Oh, and I got the other male-dancer prediction wrong, too: I guessed Mark was going to squeak by, but instead it was Twitch. But you know, I've never been so happy to be wrong! Twitch wants this soooo much--he narrowly missed making the show in season 3, and his breakdown last week when he was in the bottom proved how emotionally invested he is in this competition. But more important than him wanting this, Twitch deserves this.

Hey, Twitch...well done, you! (As Cat Deeley would say.)

And so, the final fantastic four this fourth season are Katee, Josh, Courtney and Twitch. Wow, TWO b-boys in the finale--that's definitely a SYTYCD first! Guess now that cute electric-boogalooin' 6-year-old has two role models to look up to.

But I really think it's going to come down to Katee and Josh next week. However, no matter who wins, I'm definitely going to enjoy watching what might be the strongest top four in this show's history. It's on!

Now please excuse me while I search for a red Sharpie, so I can start checking off the six calendar days between now and next Wednesday...

CHELSIE was never in the bottom three! She's cut down in the top three. That's like, aammaazziinngg. I guess I wasn't the only one who got smitten by Courtney (or Courtney's solos) in the past few weeks. Come to think of it, she never really got enough praises she deserved. Very pretty face (my opinion) can give you that, sometimes; people somehow feel reluctant to give props that are due (again, in my opinion). But yeah, Courtney is in the top 4! Can't wait for more of her sweet solos (which to me are the sweetest solos ever in the history of SYTYCD, oh yeah I have You-tubed all seasons solos in the past two weeks haha).

Could it be that Twitch's breakdown during elimination episode last week contributed more votes for him this week? I strongly feel so.

How much of a coincidence is this? Two hip hop boys and two contemporary girls. I don't know who will win, seriously. Somehow don't care. I do hope it's someone who reaaaally needs the prizes.

Btw, the recap came much sooner than I expected. Yahoo! to LP.

courtney snuck up on everyone me thinks but she's good. she's actorly. i'm hoping it comes down to her and katee.

i was kind of pulling for chelsea cause of the whole family in poverty backstory but i think she'll do well. all these kid's'll get agents and get gigs and some of them are so good looking they can have careers beyond dance.

good luck to all of them. i like that they all seem to root for and sincerely like each other.

I'm sad that Chelsie left but happy for Katee, Joshua and Twitch.

I was a little shocked that Courtney made it through over Chelsie. Even though Courtney isn't my fave, she can certainly dance excellently.

I'm so happy that Twitch made it to the final 4. I agree that it will probably come down to Josh and Katee, but Twitch is so cute. :P

Say it ain't so, ok it is, Chelsie is gone, America has spoken aw well, I guess that answers why we have George Bush in the White House.

I know some one had to go but wasn't expecting that, but when you look at who is left no one can complain, so for my Final 2 I'll still stick with Joshua for the guya and Courtney for the girls with Joshua winning it all, just my guess.

Lyndsey, come on, most of the time I will agtee with you but Lady GA GA , that was scary Lady Bad Bad !!!

Amanda from your comment yesterday, the hot tub has been closed since you left ;-) LOL.

Just my Thoughts... Steel Town Man

Cbuckles,

Thanks for the advice it took a little while but I got it back, no worse for the wear.

Thanks again.

All I have to say, "GO JOSHUA". You got my vote.

10. eks -
I have not been a Courtney fan at all this season. But, I do have to say that I think she deserved to make the final after her performance Wednesday. That was the first time I could actually say I kinda liked her.
But, my vote is for Katee.

11. tomboy -
Why wasn't Chelsie there? That is a surprise! My favorite was Kerrington, though. Oh, well. Katee is good.

12. Amanda N -
First off, that kid was sooo cute and good! He could probably compete with the big b/boys! Now for Lady Gaga.. thank god i have a DVR..that was just too strange for me...

So the top 4 is ok.. it's so hard cause they were all sooo good...So now what happens, if there is only 1 show left, then do a guy and girl win? What's up with all these shows not having a top 2 compete with just each other?? AI, where are you????

oh and steeltownman.. open that hot tub up again! :-)

13. Dave M -
This year is the best dancing I have ever seen on SYTYCD. I wish all of them the best of luck especially Twitch. In his interview before they picked the top 20 he said that if he didn't make it he would be joining the Navy. The world would have lost a great dancing talent if that had happend.

14. Yahoo! Music User -
Nope only one winner,so now you have to pick which one you want to win.

By the way about the Hot Tub.. Maybe I'll open it back up, but If I remember right you complained I turned it up to hot :-) LOL.

Thanks I'm glad i am not the only one that thought Lady Gag Gag ( Ga Ga ) was bad. To each his own and I know alot will say she was good.

Just my thoughts...

With the exception of the musical performance (can you even call it that?) it was a great results show. I liked how everyone was able to do another solo. I will miss Mark and Chelsie but I think the right dancers made the Top 4. I am torn on who I want to win... I really like Twitch but I also like Joshua and Katee. I guess I will wait and see.

16. SHANNON -
Go josh go you've done so awesome in all the dances JOSH FOR THE WIN

17. Lyndsey Parker -
I knew everyone was going to hate Lady GaGa. LOL. But I have a soft spot for strangeness. At least she's unique. I'll take her over the Pussycat Dolls any day!

18. Yahoo! Music User -
Lyndsey,

So are you saying that soft spot for strangeness is why you like your regulars. LOL

Katy Perry was better then Lady Ga GA, she is no David Bowie.

Just my Thoughts - from one of your strange regulars!!

I FOUND THE SHIRT! I'm such a nerd but I love Twitch so I had to buy this shirt when I saw it! It came pretty fast too.

If he doesn't win, he's still my favorite, but Katee is looking pretty good for the winner too.

20. Catherine -
Yay! Steel Town Man. Good to "see" you back. Haha!
