Song of the Day: Trace Adkins - ""Til The Last Shot's Fired"

Posted Mon Dec 1, 2008 10:58am PST by Chuck Eddy in Rolling Stone Song Of The Day

The year’s darkest musical history lesson, sung through the bitter wind in a heavy-hearted baritone, from the point of view of war casualties from 1864,
1944, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. Moral: Don’t cut and run. Includes prayers
to Virgin Mary; ends with a booming high-mass funeral choir.

Trace Adkins - "'Til the Last Shot's Fired"

I am a West Point Graduate parent, and I'm sitting here listening to this song by Trace Adkins. It's so true for all the wars/police actions that we as the United States have been involved in. Thank you Trace.

I think the people of the United States have forgotten the price of freedom. This song helps people remember that War is not some sort of video game, but a real place that sometimes loved ones never return from. My wish this Christmas is for peace. Sgt USMC.

I've never really been too much into country music, always been more of a rock & roller type, but tonight had the country music awards were on while I was busy doing other things when the soldier in the w/ch got my attention with his words. What a powerful, beautifully, well-written song! It really brought tears to my eyes. How appropriate and meaningful, especially in these times. Mr. Adkins, you've really made me feel proud of this country and those willing to serve it.

My oldest nephew was killed in Vietnam. Trace really hit my emotions with this powerful song. I believe more people appreciate this wonderful singer after his great run on the Celebrity Apprentice. I always support our military.

First time I heard this song I was driving to work and it was playing on the radio station that I listen to. As I was listening to it tears welled in my eyes. It is a very deep and emotional song. Thanks so much for sharing it with us and helping us to remember! Blessings to all of love, light, laughter and most of all peace.

This song brought forth alot of emotions for me as I have a nephew and very good friend fighting for our freedom as we speak, another nephew who just enlisted as a Marine and another who leaves the for the Navy in a few weeks. My father,a Marine who fought in Vietnam and grandfather a Italian immigrant who was in WW1, would be very honored that there are still people out there who are behind them. It dosent matter if you are for or against the war we MUST be behind our men and women who are in these places so that we can enjoy what we have!! Just looking at our National Cemetries should remind us all that freedon isnt free.

AP
