Buy Me Some Peanuts & Cracker Jack? It's Complicated, Says Denise Richards

Posted Tue May 5, 2009 2:48pm PDT by Billy Altman in Stop The Presses!

Is there a Guinness World's Record for "Most Appearances By One Person On 'World's Worst' Lists"? If so, Denise Richards may have just set it with her self-confessed "horrifying" singing at a Chicago Cubs game this past weekend.

For those that may have missed it, the model/actress/ex-Charlie Sheen-wife/reality show personality/there-must-be-something-I-can-do celeb showed up at Wrigley Field last Friday to lead the Cubs faithful in the traditional seventh-inning-stretch rendition of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game." And boy, did she ever butcher it.

The sad thing about all this is that the only reason Richards was even in Chicago was to take part in a fundraiser for the Kidney Cancer Association, which is seeking a cure for the disease which her mother died from not long ago. Richards had asked Cubs management if the group could set up an information booth at the ballpark during Friday's game, and in return they asked if she'd do the "Take Me Out" honors that day.

Even though she readily admitted she was "no singer," she agreed to give it a try. How bad was she? As fabled sportscaster Warner Wolf would say: "Let's go to the videotape..."

With this for-the-ages bad performance, Richards now joins Ozzy Osbourne, Mike Ditka, Danica Patrick, and Jeff Gordon (what is it with these NASCAR drivers and bad pipes?) on the ecelectic list of "World's Worst Versions of Take Me Out To The Ball Game" at Wrigley Field.

Then again, as any good Denise Richards-watcher knows, she's only adding to the legend.

For those who may have forgotten, Richards nabbed her first great "Worst" award with her 1999 Razzie for "Worst Supporting Actress" in a film for her role as an, uh, nuclear physicist in the 1999 James Bond film The World Is Not Enough--a thespic turn so monumentally bad that Entertainment Weekly last year enthusiastically dubbed her the "Worst Bond Girl Of All Time."

The last year also saw her crash the Top Ten of Us magazine's "Worst Dressed Stars Of The Year List," her bizarre E! TV reality show Denise Richards: It's Complicated (recipient of the "Worst TV Show Produced By Ryan Seacrest Not Starring Any Kardashians"), and quick elimination from this season's Dancing With The Stars competition (aka "Worst Dancing By Anyone Not Named Steve Wozniak").

Well, it sure looks like the sky's the limit--in reverse, that is--for this truly Guinness-worthy gal.

Give her a break. The ONLY reason she did it was because it was a cause that is near and dear to her heart. She SAID that she couldn't sing. Why do y'all have to try to make something GOOD that she's doing into something BAD? Also, it's not like it was the National Anthem - it was a stupid game song!

5. Yahoo! Music User -
whats the problem she was honest and told everyone up front she could not sing. So, why is everyone upset.
