Questions On Jackson's Death

Posted Fri Jun 26, 2009 4:38pm PDT by Mike Krumboltz in Stop The Presses!

People search the Web to find answers. And Thursday, when Michael Jackson died, people across the country and around the world had a lot of questions. Below is a summary of some of the most popular lookups surrounding the untimely death of the King of Pop...

1. Who dubbed Jackson the "King of Pop"?: Searches on Jackson's famous nickname surged an astounding 3,645% yesterday. Related searches on who came up with the phrase were also extremely popular. While most believe that Jackson anointed himself "The King of Pop," according to sources on the Web, Elizabeth Taylor actually coined the phrase at a 1989 awards gala. Jackson is rumored to have insisted that MTV call him by his royal nickname.

2. When did Elvis die?: The sudden and tragic death of Jackson brought back memories of another king who died too soon. Queries on "death of elvis," "when did elvis die," and "how did elvis die" all surged into breakout status. For the record, Presley passed away on August 16, 1977. He was 42 when he died of an apparent drug overdose. Also surging in search: "When did John Lennon die." The Beatle was killed on December 8, 1980.

3. Heart attack vs. cardiac arrest: Reports that Jackson had died of cardiac arrest spurred incredible interest in the difference between that and a heart attack. A heart attack is when a portion of the heart muscle dies due to a blockage of the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. Cardiac arrest is when the heart actually stops beating. This can be caused by several things including medications and can also follow a heart attack if too much of the heart muscle dies.

4. How to do the moonwalk?: Jackson's signature step surged 56,873% on Thursday. Reminded of Jackson's heyday, people looked up tips on how to perform the move. An article from WikiHow gives would-be Jackos a step-by-step set of instructions, but you may find viewing a video from the master much more informative (if a bit intimidating).

5. Order of Michael Jackson's albums: There was also an instant surge of lookups for MJ's discography. All told, he released 10 albums. They were, in order: Got to Be There; Ben; Music and Me; Forever, Michael; Off the Wall; Thriller; Bad; Dangerous; HIStory; and Invincible. Jackson's biggest seller was, of course, Thriller.

6. What is vitiligo?: Though many believed that Jackson bleached his skin, the star actually suffered from vitiligo, a skin disorder that leads to de-pigmentation. You can learn more about the effect it had on Jackson and his revealing 1993 interview with Oprah from this article from CNN.

Oh, that's rich. Jackson did NOT have Vitiligo. He would have looked like a Dalmation if he had. It does not depigment a person evenly....or give them a skinny nose, straight hair, and Jim Carrey's chin from Me, Myself, And Irene. He wanted to be a white man and he spent all of his children's inheritance to achieve it. That's all there is to it.

so thriller sold 109 million copies....just goes to show that 109 million people had bad taste...to people like ncnath2000..why dont you give care and concern to someone you actually know instead of someone who sang a song and danced, and maybe someone without so much greed that they bought one of their closest friends publishing rights to all of their songs out from under them for a few bucks...guess it was worth it to him to lose mccartneys friendship....sounds like a real gem to me

exactlly. he was found innocent and the charges were dropped. he didnt bleach his skin-he had a skin disease. he was hounded by the media who were trying everything they could to harrass him into acting out-so who wouldnt lash out at them? and finally and most importantly-no one will ever do what he did in pop music. all this crap that comes out today is forgotten as soon as it's off the billboard charts. MJ's music will live on forever and will still make money whether you all like it or not

R.I.P. King of Pop, Idol of the 80's, 90's and still today...

god you people, he was AQUITTED! do you know what that means? the mother of the child was too shady and had tried to exploit her son before. mike was innocent. ALSO he had vililigo, which is a diesease that kills the pigment cells in his skin, which is why he was white, he didn't bleach himself. BTW you can't bleach your skin. not permanantley. also you ask if we mourn a perv (he was aquitted he was not a perv) but we also mourn elvis and john lennon, who were potheads and alcoholics.

Amazing singer, had a bad life, and hopefully found a better place then where he was here. His father i blame for his child molestation crap. Either way, i hope he is in a better place. There is a lesson people, don't treat your kids like crap.

109. SabrinaW -
and the people that had sued him of meolasting was bought by money...so how do you know if that was true

110. quicksand -
He contributed his MUSIC over an almost 40 yr span, not a bad presidency!!!!!!!
re: Ronald Reagan!!!
Or Farrah Fawcett's pinup poster and stupid Charley's Angels series, sad she fought so hard with having Cancer, but she didn't leave a legacy!!! Michael Jackson's contribution is untouchable, no matter what anyone thinks of him!!!!!
Just like Elvis, just like the Beatles!!!

Even child molesters have children... that was a terrible argument.

I'm not a hater. In fact, I really always felt it was none of my business what he did with his appearance but when he's molesting impoverished children, that's when I get disgusted.

Yes, he was talented. Who could disagree?
But he also had incredible lawyers who bought those families out.

It's disgusting.

112. w_dugs -
not everyone believes someone is guilty without being proven so. i don't think michael could have ever harmed a child. there's a recording of a father saying he was going to win big. it was so obvious they were out for his money. not to mention, he said he never invited a child into his room, they followed him, and if you were a little kid who met michael jackson, you'd follow him too. he was just misunderstood because the general public is closed-minded and stupid, and believes whatever spin the media wants to put on things for good tv. he may have been a child at heart, but what's wrong with that? it's better to be a dishonest suit?

113. Yahoo! Music User -
One thing and one thing only. and this is pointed at all the people crying their eye's out saying that if your talking bad about michael, your racist. Shut the hell up. a perverts a pervert, i don't care what damn color you are. the race cards getting a little old. it's 2009 for god's sake, find a new excuse.

114. james -
Racists? WTF...did you know that there is only one race...HUMAN! And the second that Mr. Molester touched children inappropriately, he stopped being human...reguardless of his supposed skin color. Get a grip...

115. GirlGirl2366 -
this was a real great help to answer my questions.i cant believe the king of pop died . who will be next ? king of polka?

116. Cherish -
People do need to get a life. He was a someone who made a impact in this world... He has a family, and kids that might search this sometime down the road and see all the negative things people with no life's say. He never did anything to any of you so you should just keep your rude comments to yourself. It's none of your business what he did in his home. He is a part of someones family and a part of this world. Whether you like him or not you should respect that fact and let them be. He was a good man and deserves better. None of you knew him personally so you should just keep your rude comments to yourself!!! R.I.P Michael Jackson (The King of Pop)!! you will be missed and remembered forever. Prayers go out to your family and your kids no kids should lose a parent it is one of the hardest things to deal with... P.S. Say hi to my mom Michael like me she was a really big fan.

117. Yahoo! Music User -
Now he can be seen with Elvis.

118. Brwnsuga77 -
To all those making comments calling hima a pervert ELVIS was a known racist and drug user but that doesnt stop people from calling him the King. If you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all. Plus he was found not guilty of those charges so why should you all keep judging him isnt that what that due process was for? GET A GRIP PEOPLE

119. BowserLuv -
ok 4 those who THINK people are mournin pervert do u even have the proof!! serious u go by wat u hear he was famous and called king of pop WAY before the child molestation took place..we are mouring him for the music he brought people around the world! so far just about every celebrity has done something bad like getting caught up in drugs, cheating ,killing beating. If ur just here to bash MJ ur need to get on ur rocket ship and go to the center of the earth!

120. Donnie -
I don't care how many of you call him a pervert. Even at the age of 14, I say his music was awesome. Don't hate someone because they changed the rest of their skin to better fit his disease. Of course the facial work he had done was definitely questionable but who cares. It isn't how people look but how they act and in the ways of singers, how talented they are. He was an incredibly talented guy. He may have been questionable in the child molestation suits but he said he didn't and I believe him. If he did do it though who cares also. People make mistakes. I'm sure all of us have done something stupid and regretted and even denied doing it when asked about it. Surely, he was a great singer and no band that tried to remake some of his songs could make it sound any better than he did. He was certainly the King of Pop to me. As for some of these racist comments above: what the heck people. If you have to say something mean talk to yourself privately and not publicly say all these horrible things. Its a shame that people will judge someone on past mistakes. Its a shame adults can't grow out of racist tendencies on their own. Its a shame they'll judge without knowing the facts. Its a shame. Surely, Its a shame...
