Buzz Log: The Most Memorable Moments From The Michael Jackson Memorial

Posted Tue Jul 7, 2009 2:06pm PDT by Michael Krumboltz in Stop The Presses!

Below are several of the biggest moments from Michael Jackson's memorial. Some are light-hearted, some are heart-breaking, but all are memorable.

Brooke Shields, a very good friend of Jackson's, shared some of her favorite memories. Ms. Shields choked up a bit at the end of her speech, giving a voice to many in the audience and at home who must have felt the same way.

The Reverend Al Sharpton credited Jackson with demolishing racial barriers. Sharpton also called on fans to not focus on the scars of Jackson's career, but to focus on the journey. To Jackson's kids he said: "There wasn't nothing strange about your daddy."

Magic Johnson's humorous story about how he was shocked to discover that a huge star like Michael Jackson enjoyed Kentucky Fried Chicken gave fans an insider's glimpse into an unknowable icon.

With all the star-power in the room, it was less expected that a 12-year-old from the U.K. would make a huge impression at the memorial, but Shaheen Jafargholi's performance of the Jackson 5's "Who's Loving You" inspired a raucous round of applause.

Jennifer Hudson is no stranger to tragedy. Perhaps that's why her performance of "Will You Be There" came across as one of the memorial's most special moments.

Michael's brother Jermaine Jackson performed MJ's favorite song: "Smile." The lyrics were especially poignant: "Smile, what's the use of crying/You'll find that life is still worthwhile/If you just smile."

Perhaps the most touching moment came at the very end of the memorial when Michael's daughter, Paris, expressed her love for her late father.

Are you serious Mr.Dan
One what evidence did they have that he molested these children? None just the kid's parents wanting some money from him. One of the kids already came out and said that his parents told him to make that story up.
And Michael Jackson is the greatest performer of all time.
when someone comes close to selling asmany copies as thriller did then maybe you have an argument.
Use your brain.

To the person not being respectful....the kid, now 20, that received millions of dollars for accusing Michael......admitted that he lied, being forced to lie, by his own father! This interview was right after his death. You might want to be a bit more updated!!

It's a very sad situation that the man is dead and gone and his children are left hurt with a empty space. Yes he might have done wrong in his life but are any of us not guilty of something. To make mistakes is being human but to forgive (not forget tho) is being a bigger and better person. So to n e child ever that went thru anything due to Mr. Jackson I feel for you, and for his children I hurt with you but, 2 those of u that can't forgive they have a place for you too!

Mr.Dan , i think you are a child molester your damn self, why didn't he ever serve time for those allegation, and even if it is true ain't no denying it that he is a legend and a talented person.

77. Yahoo! Music User -
No for your information, Michael Jackson was "accused" of molesting a child but was found NOT GUILTY!...constitution states "innocent till proven guilty" and he wasn't....did you ever think that maybe those ppl were just after Michael's money???? duh.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson. The Greatest Entertainer Ever.

AP
Fri Nov 27, 2009 4:03am PST

AP - Noisy crowds in smoky bars don't bother 96-year-old bluesman Pinetop Perkins. It's all part of his job. Most nights, after he snuffs out his menthol cigarette, Perkins slides onto the piano bench in some club and … More »
