Disney Superstars Prompt Kids To Go Green
More than 350,000 kids have registered for Disney's Friends For Change: Project Green. The program asks youth to pledge to help conserve water, reduce waste, and curb pollution.
Disney has enlisted 29 of its biggest stars to bring attention to the program. Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, and Demi Lovato have recorded a song and video for "Send It On," the program's anthem.
The three verses of the song are performed as separate
duets. Miley and former beau Nick Jonas sing the first verse, and are followed
by Demi and Joe Jonas, and Selena and Kevin Jonas, respectively.
The lyrics encourage listeners to go green to help the environment. The chorus includes phrases such as "be a part, reach a heart," and "with one little action, the chain reaction will never stop."
Participants help Disney determine how to spend "more than $1 million that will be donated to environmental causes over the next year," according to a press release.
"If the kids who have already reported back on their progress keep up with their pledges over the next year, a potential 38 million pounds of carbon dioxide will be prevented from polluting the atmosphere-the equivalent of taking 3164 cars off the road every day for a year," a spokesperson said in a statement.
