It's Fun To Stay At The T-V-O-T-R!

Posted Fri Sep 26, 2008 12:39pm PDT by Lyndsey Parker in Video Ga Ga

Buzzy Brooklynites TV On The Radio are back with a wonderfully bizarre new video, "Golden Age"...and perhaps not since the golden age of the Village People have I personally witnessed such a fabulous use of exotic costumes, gratuitous rainbow graphics, and dancing police officers.

Prepared to be dazzled (and to do the "YMCA" alphabet-formation disco dance, retooled as "TVOTR") right now:

Of course, as awesome as TVOTR's video is, it's not entirely original. Compare and contrast it to, say, George Michael's self-parodying cop clip for "Outside," here:

Or to the frolicking farm animals in Swedish pop trio Alcazar's cult classic, "Crying At The Discoteque":

Or, of course, to the Village People themselves:

But anyway, kudos to macho men TV On The Radio for being secure enough with their sexuality to make a video like this. You can't stop their music!

not very amusing those 2 videos; TVOTR, and Alcazar, neither new George Michael's, outside, they pretend to be "top", but, they won't.

sad what passes for "music" these days. the doubled vocals are horribly tracked. actually, the whole vocal track is all over the place. sounds like a bad karaoke night. maybe it gets better, I wouldn't know... couldn't make it past 30 seconds.
