It's Official: LeAnn & Dean Are Done

Posted Wed Sep 2, 2009 1:06pm PDT by Wendy Geller in Viva NashVegas

The news doesn't come as much of a surprise: LeAnn Rimes is separating from her husband of seven years, Dean Sheremet.

For a while we wanted to believe that it was all just a big fat mess, and that LeAnn and Dean--the star who married the backup dancer, the cute couple who posed for ads in wedding magazines, the subject of adorable REDBOOK articles gushing about future children--would work it out.

We wanted them to work it out--anyone who has been forced to sue her own father before adulthood deserves a storybook marriage to a kind and loving prince. There have been buzzes flying around about Sheremet's sexual orientation and the general state of their union since the beginning of the marriage, but nobody can deny that seven years of seemingly peaceful matrimony is a mighty long time in the annals of the entertainment world.

If perhaps not a gossip-safe marriage, it appeared to be, at least, happy.

But, sigh, it's not to be so.

If you've managed to avoid Rimes Saga 2009, here's a quick 101 on the situation (warning: it's more drama than Shania Twain).

Since early this year, news has swirled around Rimes's affair with actor Eddie Cibrian, whom she met last fall on the set of the Lifetime movie Northern Lights. Rather nasty headlines, in which Cibrian's wife used the word "stalker" to describe Rimes, surfaced with regularity.

In the meantime, Rimes distanced herself from her good Country girl image by singing "Jizz In My Pants" at the MTV Movie Awards, dueting with a foul-mouthed Perry Farrell at Lollapallooza '09, and getting into a car accident. She separated from Sheremet in early August, packing him off to New York City to lick his wounds.

Cibrian filed for divorce on August 24.

And, a week later, here we are, checking out this announcement on Rimestimes.com:

"After much thoughtful mutual consideration, Deane [sic] and I have agreed to move forward with dissolving our marriage. This decision was amicable and we remain committed and caring friends with great admiration for one another."

We wanted to believe it wasn't true. But she didn't even spell his name correctly. (FWIW, there is a "Deane Sheremet" on Twitter, which sources such as Perez Hilton claim is the actual, legitimate account for Mr. Sheremet. Not exactly sure on that one. If it really is him, he's not saying much about this matter, merely posing in an apron featuring a naked male torso and...other stuff. Go look if you must.)

Feeling blue over here, today. I just want the old LeAnn back.

I guess the best thing is to wish her luck with Cibrian. What do you think? Will that couple last? Let us know what you think.

As always, be sure to:

This is the same b__ch who sued her own FATHER!!! I don't care how much I think my father is taking from me as my manager...I wouldn't sue!!! And now she leaves her husband after they just had that hhuge anniversary party, for some man that has TWO kids.

I wouldn't trust this person as far as I can throw them and I'm sure in a few years we'll see her divorcing this Eddie guy.

Come on folks!!! This is hollywood. They all do it. There are no morals there. I think marriage shouldn't even be allowed there. But then, what would all the lawyers do?

Well I wish her the best and hope everything works out for her, they did get married very young. She's still a awesome singer, even if she's starting to sing weird songs for MTV.

I think it's a shame when a marriage falters, but even worse when someone breaks their vows before the marriage is dissolved. Whether you are married or not, you have no business hooking up with another married spouse. When the grass looks greener somewhere else, it's time to water your own lawn. If it's time to call it quits, have the honor and respect for yourself and your spouse to do that before you move on. There are real people involved and worse still when there are kids.

Dean/Deane was a safe bodyguard during those years when she split with her parents (primarily her father). Male backup dancers have always had plenty of strength and agility, similar to male figure skaters - and they have always had questions raised about their sexual orientation. Their relationship seemed rather strange when one of their first reported shoppinng trips was to an "ADULT" shop where they supposedly bought "sex toys" - since when do a newly married hetero couple think "first(?)" of "toys" instead of solely each other - at least for the first several months?

As far as the new guy is concerned, his loyality may be questioned, but apparently not his orientation. Falling for people one works with in movies, in offices, in factories, wherever, has ALWAYS BEEN A FREQUENT OCCURENCE.
Sometimes it works out OK, sometimes not. It can be a distraction to other workers, and can lead to losing jobs as well as mates. OLD ADVICE THATS HARD TO FOLLOW: "Never fish off the company pier."

LeAnn has always been one of my favorites - I thought, and I still think, she is an amazing talent and I wish her success and happiness in what I hope are many years ahead.

Shame on you LeAnn taking two little Children's Father from them! Sin never win's in the end, and you will never trust this Man because he cheated on his wife with you, you will aways think how you started out and it could happen to you, sweetheart, Get back to the thing's you were taught growing up, and remember the vow's you took before God!

13. Kel -
I wish LeAnn the best of luck, and I hope she keeps her head on straight through it all. I think there's more going on here than people know...

I don't exactly think Cibrian is good news either. I just hope LeAnn doesn't get her heart broken or her fortune ruined.
