I’m sure that I’m missing a whole bunch of bands that fall into the category of this playlist, which features songs by bands who’ve named themselves after a song by a band that’s come before them.

Please let us know about any we've missed in the comments.

The Playlist:

Death Cab for Cutie, after Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band’s “Death Cab for Cutie”
Deep Purple, after Peter DeRose’s “Deep Purple”
Funeral for a Friend, after Planes Mistaken for Stars’s “Funeral for a Friend”
Hit the Lights after Metallica’s “Hit the Lights”
Ladytron, after Roxy Music’s “Ladytron”
The Living End after The Stray Cats’ “The Living End”
Nine Below Zero after Sonny Boy Williamson II’s “Nine Below Zero”
Oh Messy Life after Cap’n Jazz’s “Oh Messy Life”
The Ordinary Boys, after Morrissey’s “The Ordinary Boys”
Pretty Girls Make Graves, after The Smiths’ “Pretty Girls Make Graves” (Jack Kerouac quote)

What about Panic at the Disco...I forgot from what song they got their name, but they should be on this list...

Yeah, what about Panic at the Disco? They got their name from Name Taken and their song Panic.

what a pointless blog

What about "Godsmack" after Alice in Chains' "Godsmack" and "The Wild Kindness" after the Silver Jews song? Let's not forget "Cocteau Twins" which is a "Simple Minds" song, too.

Hit The Lights were quoted as saying that they named their band after a line from Christina Milian's song, "A.M. to P.M.," not after the song, "Hit the Lights."

The guy who wrote this article looks like the whit Lil'Wayne

16. Yahoo! Music User -
Korn was named after Billy Joel's hidden track "Corn in my dung" off his debut album

Dude, Fountains of Wayne were around way before the Sopranos.

You forgot "Deacon Blue", the absolutely superb Scottish rock group from the late 1980s, named after Steely Dan's "Deacon Blues". They had a sound reminiscent of Looking Glass ("Brandy", "Golden Rainbow").

20. Zap -
Uhm, Fuberal for a Friend was a song by elton John ("Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album)...someone is a ;ittle too contemporary.
