Pearl Jam: The Covers
Pearl Jam is a conundrum. The band was one of the biggest to break out of Seattle in the 1990s with the birth of grunge, but they weren’t really grunge. Their debut album Ten, was a smash hit commercially, and they were labeled corporate sell-outs by the press and none other than Kurt Cobain himself.
In actuality, the band is as anti-corporate as they come. Rolling Stone magazine put it concisely when they said Pearl Jam “spent much of the past decade deliberately tearing apart their own fame.”
In essence, Pearl Jam came out of the gate like a speeding bullet, but instead of continuing on the commercially successful, money-printing track, or fading into obscurity, they focused on the music, and their live shows. Usually underground bands get a break and make it big. Pearl Jam made it big, but their big break was going underground.
Pearl Jam took their music directly to the fans, without compromise. And as part of their transformation into a "jam band", so to speak, Pearl Jam have become well known for the wide variety of covers they perform live. And these live covers are the focus of this playlist.

It's a good list- happy to see you have the acoustic version of "I Believe in Miracles" on it; I love that song.... A very rare but great cover they do is "The Seeker" by the Who. I swear that PJ might be the best Who cover band in the world.
