Ode To The World Of Warcraft

Posted Thu Nov 13, 2008 4:46pm PST by Robert of the Radish in The Y! Music Playlist Blog

The most successful video game franchise in the world released its second expansion pack today. Wrath Of The Lich King by Blizzard Entertainment adds a boatload of new content to the World of Warcraft virtual universe.

I was skeptical to play the game for a few years as I knew it would suck up way too much of my time, but I eventually relented because most of my family play on a regular basis, and the social aspect of the game was just too appealing to resist. Everything good you have heard about the game is true, and if you've ever enjoyed the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis or Gary Gygax then Warcraft is simply something you must experience for yourself.

The game is an open world MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) where players create a virtual 3D character by choosing their sex, race, profession, class and physical features then explore a huge world where they can make friends, fight foes, grow in strength, wealth and influence, or just hang around to soak it all in. The success of the game is legendary with over 11 million subscribers who not only bought the game, but pay $15/month to play it. WOW has a business model to die for, and although many have tried to achieve similar MMORGP success, all have failed.

As I'm installing the Lich King expansion I thought I would put together a playlist for all you Azeroth dwellers out there. Only those that play the game will understand why many of these songs are in the list. Please add any other songs not included that fit the theme to the comments.

And if you come across a Horde toon named Copernicus or Dingo on the Agamaggan server, please refrain from ganking me and say hello.

Great List to listen to while I am locked out of my server and endlessly waiting to get on...*yawn*
Say hi to Onemadwoman, an alli who resides in Dunemaul, if you happen to be in the area... We can sit by a campfire and eat some mystery stew.
Have fun! =D

I wish my college had a faster internet connection! As it is, not only can I not play WoW, I can't even get my fix of Maple Story. Hopefully this will tide me over as I wait for the break to be able to play again.
