N.W.A. Family Tree
Back in the late eighties and early nineties N.W.A. made Compton famous and popularized a new genre of hip-hop with their pioneering development of gangsta rap. The group's rappers -- Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E and MC Ren would all go on to be multi-million selling solo artists.
Although N.W.A was only around for 5 short years the group's influence on hip-hop and popular culture is immense. For this playlist I simply wanted to include different branches of the N.W.A. family tree in one place. It kicks off with the groundbreaking single “Straight Outta Compton” by N.W.A. and is followed with songs by N.W.A. members as solo artists, or as members in other groups. Includes Easy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, The D.O.C. and Westside Connection. MC Ren and the Arabian Prince.
