Killing Women: The Playlist

Posted Tue Mar 24, 2009 5:09pm PDT by Robert of the Radish in The Y! Music Playlist Blog

Human beings are obsessed with murder. We want to be creeped out and terrified. We also want to get into the mind of those who kill. Luckily, the vast majority of us will only experience murder through art. Millions of people love crime novels, horror movies and murder-centric television shows like CSI.

However, songwriters are not laggards to the phenomenon of murder fascination. Since the beginning of songwriting itself man has crafted horrifying tales of murder.

For this playlist I have selected 30 songs that tell the stories of murdered women. Some are classic murder ballads, while others are more contemporary takes.

What's your favorite murder song?
