Folk Songs For Children
Every country has it's own folk song traditions, America included. And there's something special about the songs families sing together that helps bind us together as a nation.
Music can put a smile on the face of even the smallest child, and even parents who do not fancy themselves singers will sing to their children. Some of the very first melodies children learn include "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", "Row, Row, Row Your Boat", and "Mary Had A Little Lamb, but as children grow they need more.
This playlist includes folk songs that will help children continue with their love of music after "Old MacDonald" has run its course.
Folk songs really are perfect for children. They usually include very strong, but simple melodies, and tell stories through the use of characters that children can identify with -- children's books set to music.
I have fond childhood memories of many of the songs in this playlist. And today I'm passing them on to my children.
