Michael Jackson's Number One Hits

I was on the road to a meeting late this afternoon when I heard on the radio that Michael Jackson had been rushed to the hospital. When I left the meeting the news had turned to "Michael Jackson, Dead at 50". Like most, I was shocked because he was so young, but also because he is such a legend in popular music. There will certainly be many articles written this week about MJ, some will be sterile and concise, some with be lengthy career recaps, and some will be tasteless and cruel. I have always had conflicted views on the man, but the truth is I did not know him. The only thing I can say about Michael Jackson with confidence is that he was a true musical genius and a legendary performer. We watched him grow up before our eyes and we bought more of his albums than any other artist in history. Michael's 1982 album Thriller still holds the distinct honor of being the biggest selling album of all time with well over 100 million units sold worldwide. Something tells me that number will grow further and won't be surpassed anytime soon.

For this playlist I have put in chronological order every solo Michael Jackson song that reached the #1 spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. 12 songs in all, and there are many more to find if you consider his duet and group chart-toppers.

Rest in peace Michael, and thanks for the music, it will live longer than any of us.

As I sit here crying of your loss, I feel the most sorry for your 3 children to lose their father. You are and will always be the greatest entertainer and inspiration on earth. I remember seeing him when I was 16 at the Meadowlands and had to figure out a way to get to that concert... can't tell you how worth it was. I love him so much as a child.. my bedroom walls were covered in posters. My heart aches now for this loss of such a genius... a true legend of our time. You may be gone but never forgotten and I know we'll all see you one day. God bless the entire Jackson Family.. take care of those precious young children.

tyler952001, You need to learn how to respect the dead! You should never wish something so terrable on a person you didn't even know. Dont believe everything you hear. There was no proof that he did anything to those children except for what they claimed. Its a shame that no matter how for up you get in life, someone is always trying to pull you down. MJ was a wonderful man who helped millions of people, and because he may have been a little different people treated him like he was not a human being who felt the same emotions we do.

even though it is almost 3 weeks since his death and two weeks since he was buried my mind can"t stay off him. at the mention of his name, i cry miss him a lot. i quite remember the day i heard the news, i could"nt stop asking myself why? i still suspects the doctor has something up his sleeves. i will never forget him and stop missing him. my condolences goes out to his lovely children, parents, siblings, friends and loved ones.

Michael Jackson has been my favorite entertainer as my whole life. It's sad the things he went through since 1993. I can remember listening to the radio just to hear his music. If it wasn't for Michael I wouldn't have any rhythm. He's the greatest entertainer that ever lived to date. Don't judge him take a look at yourself before you pass any judgements.
