10 Most Tragic Music Icon Deaths

Posted Sun Jun 28, 2009 7:16pm PDT by Robert of the Radish in The Y! Music Playlist Blog

Every death is a tragedy, but in the world of music when an icon dies too young, it sends reverberations throughout the whole world. We saw it this week with the death of Michael Jackson at the age of 50. Those who have reached the pinnacle of success in the music business always see an outpouring of sympathy when they die because of the sheer number of fans they leave behind. But there is more to it. It also reminds us all that life is short and all the money and fame in the world won't stop death. In the most tragic cases it also proves that money and fame cannot buy happiness. To the contrary, sometimes the star simply cannot deal with the trappings of fame and self-destructs. For this playlist I've selected what I feel are the 10 most tragic music icon deaths. These are all artists who have reached millions of people with their music, but died much too young under tragic circumstances.

May they all rest in peace and may their deaths remind the stars of the future that they too are only human.

It's too bad people only remeber the bad things when someone like Michael dies instead of the good he did and the life he lead. He had no childhod as some tend to forget but the short time he was here he mad a big contribution to our world!! Think now of what good he did and his pain and sadness and of his kids!! Sure life goes on but with so much negativity his children will not undertand the great man he was!! I grew up with the Jacksons and Michel and yes he left us too soon but God had his reasons!
I will truly miss him and his music but he lives on in all of us and in his children. He is no longer in any pain(physically/emotionlly).
I am sure Michael would want us to be happy and selebrate his life.
Where were all those whom cared when he was very alone and down where????
Be there now for his children and family and especially for Michale!!
Rest in peace our angel!!

I know everyone is leaving their favorite artist on here but you have to include Tupac Shakur, aka 2Pac aka Makevili... hip hop music hasn't been the same since, there is no conscience to it, just a bunch of words to a beat, no more stories, no one talking to the kids... just beats and words... Tupac Shakur definately

"TOP 10 MOST TRAGIC MUSIC ICON DEATHS"

The title of this post cannot be emphasized enough. Now, if this was a Top 25 list, a lot of the names aforementioned should 'n probably would have appeared on such a list. But honestly, havin' read over the list myself, how can you argue with the names that are up there? These were, and still are to this day, some of the biggest names in music. Their contributions were immense. Their deaths were sudden 'n unexpected, thus sendin' shockwaves all around the world. For those of you who don't necessarily agree with this list: Which of these iconic figures would you remove from this list so to include those you felt should have been on it? If you know anythin' about music, it'd be very difficult to argue with this list here. All in all, good job!
