This list is further proof that I really was born way too late, I wasn't even thought of in 1980!

Truly, the 80s were superior in the way of music.

1980 was a GREAT year in music. It was even much better than the 17 songs represented here, which only is a small sample of what transpired, Oh, and "Upside Down" was by a long time solo Diana Ross, as the Supremes had long been broken up sans Ross for 10+ years. "Magic' by Olivia Newton-John originated on the hit laden "Xanadu" soundtrack (1/2 ONJ and 1/2 Electric Light Orchestra.) This soundtrack spawned 5 top 20 hits (a record at the time) and is now a successful Broadway having started last Summer.

Yes, the album used for "Upside Down" is #1 and includes the Supremes and Diana Ross solo.

No doubt, the best music came out of the '80s.
It was fun, dancable, and didn't have to be edited. Bands like Culture Club, Duran Duran and singers like Cyndi Lauper and Madonna were able to combine image with talent and made it work. I even miss those chessy videos on MTV back when it WAS a music video channel. Great times, great times.
