Bonnie Raitt Found Title Song For New Album In David Gray Song

Yahoo! Music, Apr 9, 2002 3:00 pm PDT
(4/9/02, 3 p.m. ET) -- The title track to Bonnie Raitt's new album, Silver Lining, is a cover of a David Gray song from his breakthrough collection White Ladder. Raitt tells LAUNCH that she heard about Gray through a woman who works in her management office, and that she immediately fell in love with his work.

"'Silver Lining' was my favorite song off the White Ladder album. I, I had heard about him, 'cause I'm always looking for material, and so I ask around about it: 'Does anybody know any interesting new writers?' Then all of a sudden he just had this terrific upsurge of success and notoriety, which I was really happy (about), but I was crossing my fingers that 'Silver Lining' wasn't gonna be a single, and I thought it was a really appropriate title for the album. I though it was--it just made for a great title."

Raitt is currently on a theater tour that hits the Palace Theater in Columbus, Ohio, Wednesday (April 10). She also plans to be on the road throughout the summer, co-billed with another headliner, but those plans have not yet been announced.
