Oh, wait...
The Old Gray Lady is apparently looking to up her hip factor, because the New York Times is extending an offer to the U2 frontman to become a columnist for their Op-Ed page.
Editorial page editor Andrew Rosenthal, at a talk at Columbia's School of Journalism on Wednesday, added that the former Nobel Peace Prize nominee will pen between six and 10 pieces for the paper on topics including Africa and global poverty, both of which are longtime pet causes for the rocker.
It's unclear whether the singer-philanthropist will be paid for his opinionated efforts, though his One Campaign spokeswoman, Kathy McKiernan, said any payment would go straight to Bono's charity.
Previous A-list Op-Ed writers for the paper include Bruce Springsteen, who wrote a piece in 2004, and Larry David, who took his turn on the masthead in 2006.
