We Will Rock You, the musical based on the seminal tunes of the classic rock band, will end its Las Vegas run Nov. 27, Variety reports.
The show, which took London's West End by storm when it bowed in 2002, first made headlines last year after eschewing a Broadway run in favor of the 1,450-seat Theatre Des Arts at the Paris Las Vegas hotel and casino.
However, the Sin City production of the musical has apparently run out of steam after around 500 performances and in the face of other big-budget musicals now in Vegas, including the transplanted Broadway hits Avenue Q and Monty Python's Spamalot.
Although Paris' official Website still features video of the musica, the site hints that changes are afoot at the Theatre Des Arts ("Check back with us often to see what new, exciting shows we're bringing to Paris Las Vegas," the copy reads).
Despite its short run, the Vegas production did produce one quasi-celebrity--Rock Star: INXS contestant Ty Taylor. The Los Angeles-born singer drew attention to the musical during the reality show's run this past fall, even performing a Queen song. (MiG Ayesa, an Australian-born semifinalist on Rock Star, starred in the London production of We Will Rock You, which has been an unqualified hit, grossing over $100 million).
Written by Ben Elton and featuring such Queen hits as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Are the Champions" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," We Will Rock You received seed money from an unlikely source: Robert De Niro.
The Goodfellas actor's Tribeca Theatrical Productions helped Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor produce both the British and American versions of the show over the past three years.
While the Vegas version of We Will Rock You will go dark at the end of this month, fans can still catch the show in England, Germany or Spain, and, beginning next year, in Switzerland and South Africa.
