Attorneys for the former couple appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court Friday morning for an emergency hearing in which Federline sought an order to prevent the singer from chauffeuring the duo's two children around town in the wake of increasing driving indiscretions.
While neither Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, or Spears' attorney, Anne Kiley, commented on the results of the hearing, TMZ reports Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon did in fact approve the motion, prohibiting Spears from personally driving sons Sean and Jayden during her court-monitored visits.
"Orders were made," Kaplan said upon leaving the courtroom. "I can't discuss the content of those orders. Documents have not been released by the court, and I don't know if they will be. The matter will be continued at a future date."
Kiley was much less forthcoming with information on the case.
"Everything is fine," she said simply.
The closed-door hearing was scheduled earlier this week at the behest of Kaplan, who requested the hearing after paparazzi footage surfaced of Spears running a red light and crossing into oncoming traffic on L.A.'s Mulholland Drive last Thursday. Her two sons were asleep in the backseat of the vehicle at the time, and her court-appointed monitor was ducked down in the passenger's seat.
Adding fuel to the visitation-endangering fire, Spears also appeared to be texting while behind the wheel. Her ill-thought-through auto actions were all captured on film by an ever-present flock of paparazzi and were circulating online within hours.
Prior to the advent of Spears' red-light run, Gordon was originally scheduled to rule on Kaplan's request that the 25-year-old multitasker be prohibited from chauffeuring her sons at a Nov. 26 hearing. The request came in the wake of several on-road indiscretions, including running over the foot of a paparazzo and a sheriff's deputy on two separate occasions.
This week, Spears also did herself no favors—though Federline plenty—by appearing to complete her steamroll trifecta, rolling over the foot of another paparazzo outside the Four Seasons Beverly Hills on Wednesday. On Thursday night, she was also photographed driving her tots around while donning sunglasses, an unnecessary and potentially dangerous accessory when it's already dark.
Last month, Spears lost custody of two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James after, among other shortcomings, she had been serving as chauffeur without the benefit of holding a valid California driver's license.
She has since been granted visitation rights, provided a court-appointed monitor is present, and one overnight stay per week.
It was also reported that the emergency hearing would address the results of Spears' recent court-ordered drug tests. While neither side has publicly discussed the issue, TMZ reported that one of her tests revealed a positive reading for amphetamines. A source close to the singer told the site it was the result of a prescription drug.
Barring another emergency hearing in the custody case, attorneys for both Spears and Federline are due back in court Nov. 26.
