Find Third Grammy Puts Them In 'Cool' Company

Yahoo! Music, Jan 5, 2001 12:00 pm PST
(1/5/01, 12 p.m. ET) - Brooks & Dunn have earned themselves a Grammy nod for best country performance by a duo or group for their ballad "You'll Always Be Loved By Me." If they win, they can add it to the mantel housing their 1993 and 1996 Grammys in that category for "Hard Working Man" and "My Maria."

Kix Brooks tells LAUNCH that being nominated for a Grammy Award is unique because it is not your run-of-the-mill awards show. "The Grammys are real cool because they tend to lean more towards the eccentric, or sort of the underground pulse of the music business," he explains. "You see a lot of popular music and musicians and guys that are on top of the heap and stuff, but you also get these long-time built-up nods to great artists like Eric Clapton or [Bob]Dylan or Bonnie Raitt or Carlos Santana. You know, other award shows seem to nod at whatever is hot today."
