Spend Weekend Shattering Records

Yahoo! Music, Sep 4, 2001 5:00 pm PDT
(9/4/01, 5 p.m. ET) -- Multiple Country Music Association Awards nominees Brooks & Dunn performed two shows over the Labor Day weekend which broke attendance records. The duo performed at the New York State Fair in Syracuse on Saturday night (September 1), where the crowd grew so large that Brooks & Dunn were forced to move several of their trucks to make room for incoming cars. "We knew by mid-afternoon that the record was going to be broken, but we were shocked when they told us we might need to move our trucks because all the parking they had available for the public was full, and people were still coming in," said Ronnie Dunn.

The duo continued on to the Vermont State Fair on Sunday (September 2), where they hosted the fair's second sold-out show in 13 years. The first sell-out came compliments of the Backstreet Boys in 1998."There's something about getting all those people out there that really fires you up," said Kix Brooks. "Ronnie and I always have a good time onstage, and the more people we can take with us to the party, the better it is!" Brooks & Dunn's current single, "Only In America," claims its spot in the top five on the country singles charts.
