On their swing through Salt Lake next week, the pair may have time to stop by and see an old friend, Utah Senator Orrin Hatch, who wrote a song called "Everyday Heroes" that the duo sang for the upcoming film, Joshua.
Before they recorded the Senator's song, the duo had met and heard some of the politician's music. Kix Brooks told LAUNCH. "He had written a couple of gospel songs that were really pretty cool songs and I forget... Had someone sing them for him, did a piano vocal thing, you know just kind of sat around with a handful of songwriters and we all did a song or two. So, we had actually met him before and knew that he was interested in writing songs and has been an advocate of songwriter rights and stuff like that," he said.
Brooks & Dunn's latest single, "The Long Goodbye," sits at Number Four this week on Billboard's Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart.
The Olympics will officially begin tonight (February 8) with opening ceremonies in Salt Lake City at the Rice-Eccles Olympic stadium. The Dixie Chicks are among acts performing at the ceremonies, which will be broadcast live on NBC affiliates.
