(7/23/02, 12 a.m. ET) -- Apologies are rare in the egocentric business of hip-hop, but Cam'ron appeared on BET's Rap City Thursday (July 18) and said he was sorry for making negative statements about Nas's 7-year-old daughter and late mother.

During an interview with host Tigger, Cam'ron explained his brief feud with Nas, and added that he regretted making some of his inflammatory comments.

"I do want to apologize to his mother and his daughter, though," Cam'ron said of Nas. "'Cause I said some things out of character about his family. I'm just apologizing because I'm a grown man, and I know you shouldn't say things about certain people's family."

The lyrics Cam'ron referred to appear in his song "Killa's Revenge." Cam'ron recorded the song last month after Nas called his album Come Home With Me "wack" on New York's Power 105.

About Nas's daughter Destiny, Cam'ron rhymed, "Tell ya daughter R. Kelly/Have my way with her face." Cam'ron also took an indecipherable shot at Nas's mother.

Cam'ron did not withdraw his lyrics about the mother of Nas's daughter, whom he called promiscuous. In sarcastically comparing Nas to historical South African leader Nelson Mandela, Cam'ron said, "Nelson Mandela, we all boned Winnie."

The child's mother, Carmen Bryan, recently expressed her disappointment with Cam'ron, Jay-Z and Russell Simmons. On his song "Super Ugly," Jay-Z, who previously dated Bryan, rapped about having sex with Bryan in the back of Nas's Bentley and leaving his condom on the "baby seat."

"Jay-Z, Cam'ron, and Russell Simmons should be ashamed of promoting music which verbally attacks innocent children," Bryan told Newsday.

Interestingly, Cam'ron mentioned that he had not talked to Nas about the heated exchange. "Actually I ain't never really speak to Nas after all this," Cam'ron told Tigger. "That was like two days after it all happened."

Cam'ron added that he kept clear of the Nas verses Jay-Z rivalry even though he is signed to Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records, and only made "Killa's Revenge" to defend himself.

"What I'm trying to say is, 'Just don't say my name.' I don't have no problem with anybody," Cam'ron said. "If you got on the radio, and say I'm wack, Nelly's wack, and Noreaga's wack. I just wasn't feeling that. The next day, I went and made a song. But just don't say my name and I'm cool with everybody."
