Cam'Ron Shot During Attempted Carjacking

Yahoo! Music, Oct 24, 2005 6:00 pm PDT
Diplomats leader Cam'ron was in Washington, D.C., this weekend to participate in Howard University's homecoming weekend, but the rapper ended up getting more than he bargained for when several men attempted to carjack him outside of an area nightclub. MTV.com reports that as the rapper was leaving the popular H20 nightclub at 2:10 a.m. Sunday (October 23), he was approached by several men in a vehicle who demanded that he give up his blue Lamborghini. When the rapper refused, several shots were fired into his vehicle which resulted in him being shot once in each arm.

Sources close to Cam'ron shared that he was recovering at a D.C.-area hospital and doing fine.

Cam'ron, unlike many of today's rappers, is not known for keeping a large security detail and often travels alone.

This is the second time that the Diplomats have been victims of an attempted robbery. In April of 2003, 28-year-old bodyguard Eric Mangrum was shot and killed while rapper Freakey Zekey of the Diplomats was wounded during an attempted robbery in the Chelsea section of New York City.
