Formed in Albany, New York in lat 1990, the ska-punk unit Can't Say comprised singer/guitarist Al von Schaaf, bassist Ian Cipkowski, tenor saxophonist Tony Bryan and alto saxophonist Justin Birk. Originally a metal band, they soon released a demo cassette, Anything, gradually turning more and more towards ska; after a second demo, 1992's Album Savant, a year later Can't Say issued their self-titled debut LP. After 1995's The Kings of Crunchska, the group toured relentlessly during the three years that passed prior to the release of its follow-up, True Grit. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
