In 1997, Chasing Furies performed in Colorado at the Christian Artists Seminar. The band's bold, hard rock look stood out and drew attention as much as their great music did. With wild hair colors and body piercings to spare, Chasing Furies looked more like they were ready to do a Black Sabbath number instead of gospel tunes, but Christian rock with strong lyrics about God and faith is what the band delivered. In fact, the group delivered so well that they left the seminar with a second place award in the band competition.
Both Sarah and Joshua Meeker have lived through their share of hard teen years. They had battles with drugs, alcohol, and rebellion, saving younger sister Rachel from some of the same mistakes. Through their music, they hope to save other teens as well.
In 1999, Chasing Furies saw the release of their debut album, With Abandon, under the Sparrow Records label. "Wait Forever," "Fair Night's Longing," and "Throw Me" are some of the uplifting tracks filled with passionate vocals and distorted guitar riffs that have won the group stellar reviews from critics. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
