Christina went on to place the blame for the rumors on reporters in the tabloid press, saying "If certain journalists want to throw their integrity out the window by spreading false information, then so be it. But I'm not falling for their lies and neither should my fans or Britney's, alike." As a final gesture of good will, Christina added, "I wish nothing but the best for Britney, her husband, and their family. May they be blessed with continued success and future happiness."
Christina has been denying the rivalry between the two former Mickey Mouse Club stars for years. She once said, "It's funny, because me and Britney were never compared to each other, even though we were the youngest on the show. Everybody always knew how different we were. And now we grew up and people just think there's this rivalry and whatnot... it's crazy, but it's cool. It's cool; it's fun."
Christina's collaboration with Herbie Hancock on his new CD Possibilities - a cover version of Leon Russell's "A Song For You" - will be in stores tomorrow (August 30).
