Performs At Bush Gala

Yahoo! Music, Jan 23, 2001 7:00 am PST
(1/23/01, 7 a.m. ET) - Clint Black and his wife, Lisa Hartman Black, were dressed to the nines over the weekend in the nation's Capitol, where they performed at one of the many Inauguration galas in honor of President George W. Bush. On Saturday (January 20), MSNBC aired a special behind-the-scenes show on the event featuring scenes of the singer rehearsing for his performance at the Texas State Society bash.

"We were honored to be a part of this great event, and to have had the opportunity to meet President and Mrs. Bush and Vice President and Mrs. Cheney," said Black. "It was a very busy yet invigorating weekend, and it was a pleasure to take part in the festivities by performing at the gala."

At the event, the new President welcomed the Blacks and suggested they pay him a visit at the White House in the future.

With a new baby due in May, the couple is taking it easy and staying off the road. While at his Los Angeles home, Black is finding time to work on a new album in his own recording studio, and the project just might have another duet with the singer's wife. Their first duet, "When I Said I Do," hit the top of the country charts and won both Country Music Association and TNN vocal collaboration awards.
