Daddy Yankee Says He Doesn't Mind The Pressure Of Representing Reggaeton
Yahoo! Music, Aug 1, 2005 4:00 pm PDTPuerto Rican reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee says he feels pride, not pressure, as ambassador of reggaeton music. "I'm ready to contribute a lot in the genre and, you know, I feel a little responsibility over my shoulders because right now,” Daddy Yankee said. “I'm the ambassador of my movement. But, being honest with you, I'm ready to represent my people all over the world."
Daddy has sold over one million copies of his 2004 album Barrio Fino and he's set to launch a 16-city arena tour of the U.S. and Latin America.
Daddy Yankee has been filming scenes in Puerto Rico and New York for the movie Straight From The Barrio, which is tentatively scheduled for release in 2006. In the film, Daddy Yankee plays the role of Eddie Dinero, who discovers his innate talent and uses it to overcome adversity. Reggaeton artists TNT, Glory, Maestro and Rey Pirin also appear in the movie.
