(3/14/01, 1 p.m. ET) -- French duo Daft Punk--which comprises Thomas Bangalter, 26, and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, 27--released its sophomore album, Discovery, on Virgin Records yesterday (March 13). The first single from Discovery, "One More Time," was commercially released on December 5, 2000, and it shot to Number One on the U.S. dance/club chart in a few short weeks.
In France, "One More Time" debuted at Number One, the first time a single has debuted at the top of the French chart since Elton John's 1997 tribute to Princess Diana, "Candle In The Wind (Goodbye England's Rose)." The track also debuted at Number Two in the U.K. and Number One on the Eurochart. "One More Time" is currently Number 29 on the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 chart, and it is getting considerable pop radio airplay.
In other news, all Daft Punk fans that purchase Discovery have the opportunity to become members of the duo's Daft Club through a membership card included with purchase. Daft Club is an online club where members can download a Daft Player. By using the Daft Player, club members will be privy to exclusive free content available only through Daft Club, and also have access to previously unreleased material, remixes, videos, and more.
Discovery is the follow up to Daft Punk's 1996 debut album, Homework, which has sold more than 2 million copies worldwide and features the dance hits "Da Funk," "Around The World," "Burnin,'" and "Fresh."
