(1/30/01, 1 p.m. ET) - David Gray's White Ladder has now gone platinum for sales of 1 million copies. Its success has been spurred on by "Babylon," which has been playing on several radio formats. The London singer-songwriter tells LAUNCH that he's "amazed" by the gradual, growing radio success of "Babylon" in this country. "They work records for a very long time over here, like, as you peel back the layers of different radio formats," he says. "But it certainly sped up in the last few months, and suddenly there we are, we're in the top 40. It finally happened. It's been amazing. I mean, I am gobsmacked, really, at how the record's slowly gone from strength to strength."

Also, "Sail Away" off White Ladder will be featured in the movie 15 Minutes, which stars Robert DeNiro and hits theaters in March.

Gray plans a headlining tour in support of the album starting April 12 in Minneapolis, hitting major venues such as Radio City Music Hall in New York City and the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.
