Live DVD To Feature Behind-The-Scenes Film

Yahoo! Music, Feb 2, 2001 10:00 am PST
(2/2/01, 10 a.m. ET) - David Gray will issue a DVD version of his recent home video David Gray Live, to include a previously unreleased behind-the-scenes film. The 52-minute Up To A Point follows the singer-songwriter during his sold-out 1999 tour of Ireland. The DVD is due in the U.K. and Ireland in February, with an American release still being considered.

The DVD focuses mainly on Gray's show at the Dublin club the Point, featuring performances of his current hit "Babylon," next single "Please Forgive Me," and 15 other songs spanning his decade-long career.

The Irish setting captures Gray in front of what is perhaps his most fanatical fanbase, one that dates back to his career debut in the early 1990s. Gray tells LAUNCH that, thanks to the help of that country's tastemakers, Irish clubs were filled the first time he performed there.

"When I first went to Dublin, the show sold out and I was like, 'This is fantastic. I'm coming back,'" he said. "Because of the great reaction, I've always gone back and I've gigged and I've gigged and I've gigged and I built a sort of cult following which was really strong. I mean, I could always sell my shows out no matter who else was on in the town."

The DVD's complete tracklisting is: "Sail Away," "This Year's Love," "White Ladder," "Coming Down," "Late Night Radio," "Shine," "Faster," "A Century Ends," "Lead Me Upstairs," "My Oh My," "Babylon," "Wisdom," "The Light," "Silver Lining," "We're Not Right," "Please Forgive Me," and "Flame Turns Blue."
