Broadway Smash 'Spamalot' Coming to London
AP, Jan 20, 2006 1:44 pm PST"Spamalot," the hit Broadway musical based on "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," will open in London in October, producers announced Friday.
The show will begin previews Oct. 2 at the Palace Theatre. Cast details have not been announced.
The Palace is currently home to Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Woman in White," which closes Feb. 25 after a 19-month run.
The anarchic, Tony-winning musical has been a huge Broadway hit, breaking box office records and recouping its US$12 million investment less than seven months after it opened last March.
With a book by Eric Idle and a score by Idle and John Du Prez, "Spamalot" currently stars "Frazier's" David Hyde Pierce and British stage actor Simon Russell Beale.
